Hi guys,

Now that my car is USA import is Mot'd I want to register it.
On filling in the application v55/5 a lot of the questions require a "certificate of conformity"
to be answered correctly , does anyone know where I can get one ?

Cheers

Thanks for the response Sean but that can't be it , far too many specs needed that aren't quoted on the MOT

On the odd occasion I had to complete the DVLA forms, all I shared was the overseas log book, UK MOT and insurance documents ( when seeking to tax car at same time). I guess I was lucky given the overseas log book had date of manufacture, registration etc and so no more questions from DVLA.

Did similar to what datsfun mentioned. Supplied original overseas ownership doc that had the year of manufacture. I imported in May 2015 and did just this. Also didn't need type approval. Below list was what I used from DVLA.

• a filled-in V55/5 application form (the V355/5 leaflet will help you fill in this form)
• the first registration fee (see section 9)
• the fee for the tax disc (see leaflet V149)
• a current UK certificate of motor insurance (this must
be valid on the date the tax disc starts or when the tax
disc is issued, whichever is the latest)
(You will need to insure the vehicle using the Vehicle
Identification Number (VIN) or chassis number. The British
Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) will be able to give
you information on insurance companies that provide the
cover you need. You can phone them on 0870 950 1790
or send an email to enquiries@biba.org.uk)
• a current MoT or Goods Vehicle Test (GVT) certificate
(if appropriate)
(For any information on MoT or GVT testing, phone
Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) on
0300 123 9000)
• a non-UK registration document or certificate for your
vehicle and any other papers you have relating to the
vehicle, or a dating certificate from the manufacturer
or other acceptable source
• photocopies of documents confirming your name and
address (see section 7), and evidence of Type Approval (see section 8).

I believe the certificate of conformity is if you are importing a more modern car (sub 10 years old).

We had this issue importing more modern RX7s back when I bought mine.

It's a certificate confirming the car meets certain environmental and safety regulations (none of which would have been about unless you've imported a more recent 350/370?).

You may also need a certificate of "Mutual Recognition", but this is to confirm the headlights dip to the left (for an imported LHD car) etc, but I believe again that a) you're car will likely be too old, and b) you shouldn't get a UK MOT pass if the beams are wrong etc..

Just my 2p worth!
