Hi, correct model would be one with the correct thread - don't think there's much more to it than that.
I have one and it's very helpful in setting the idle mixture. I tend to find where the burn is yellow, then go leaner until there's no more yellow and then a bit further.

Gunson Colortune "G4074 for vehicles with 14mm spark plug" works for me.
Jon, your leaner approach is interesting (yellow approaching white). At idle I've I've gone for the blue approaching yellow at revs. Might try a leaner mix setting as you suggest
