Tim, if you have a whole replacement roof then why not just replace the whole thing? It would probably be about the same amount of work and you wouldn't have to worry about warping it.

Something scares me about cutting the entire roof off, you know? Slightly less intimidated by the infill. Donor one I have isn't great along the front either - a few holes.

Cheers Derrick, it taking forever. Mines going to be a study in blue. Its great to see all (yours, Andys ,Micks plus others) these 280ZX projects on the go. Its so depressing to read about all the ones getting broken for parts in a market thats shrinking. Thats life i guess. Got your email by the way, but links don't work, I did email you back. Looking forward to see what you did with the interior, quality job I should imagine.:bow:

You've done great work on this project, it looks great, theres no way it looked that good from the factory.

Time to get driving her now :driving:

Ian my advice would be keep it original work on the engine you have a word with mr f [Mike Feeney at mjp he will tell you what you need and possible supply only my thought,as their are a lot of hybrids about don't really know if you would be devaluing your car. If you are looking for something to race and keep then fine.:thumbs:GOOD LUCK :D
I'm still undecided on what to do at this moment, I'll worry about that once I have the suspension, brakes, diff setup and paintwork sorted.

Whatever I do it will be done with my personal enjoyment the main consideration, I'm not worried about loosing or adding value to my car, I plan to keep it for a very long time. If I decide a tuned L series would be better for my needs than I'll go for that but If I decide that I want slightly more power then I'll probably go RB26.

Thoroughly enjoyed this thread as it shows by pictures step by step process what happens when a Z is restored and shows the what a lot of the less technically minded of us have never seen as we have not the time or opportunity or the good fortune to work either full or part time in a garage
Big thanks from me for an excellent pictorial thread that shows everything

I love restoration threads. We need some nice big pics of the finished car outside in the daylight. What's next then? New project?
