Am I right that the only dashboard to use is from a 260Z?

How difficult are these to source considering that there were fewer 260s over here?

I assume that during the time when the 2/2s were less favoured and being broken-up they have provided a few.
You need to think bigger - there’s a market where a lot more RHD cars were sold and where dashes come up for sale. Yes, one needs to learn the ins and outs of bidding on Yahoo Auctions Japan, and the post is an expense, but it is another option as the local supply dries up and people ask silly prices for them.

There’s a post-73/260Z equivalent dash on there right now (some cracks, needs resto) with bidding currently around 330 quid (obviously will go up and the seller might not accept proxy bidding services, but it’s an example). They are on quite regularly.

Just a heads up, I’m assuming you’re keeping the original engine. But if not - I’ve done a engine swap, and also lhd to rhd, then found out that my brand new manifold / headers were designed for a lhd car and they were right in the way of the steering arm…expensive mistake to make and over looked at the time. Just thought I’d say just in case 🤙🏼

Yep, I’m keeping the L28 but good thinking!

Already got a dash, picked up a nice 260Z one a while back 😊

That looks like a Kameari Engine Works catalogue or advert, judging by the appearance.
The present online version of the catalogue has a fuller FRP S31Z dash on p.86 for JPY49,000. Doesn't show those earlier-style dash options though.

Obviously, FRP dashes lack the mounting frame, leaving you with some work to do. Having spent some time with a LHD and a RHD frame next to each other, if one was so inclined, the LHD could be modified.

31Z version

The FRP Zenki (ie, pre '74) full dash shells above are from ASW (Auto Service Watanabe) and RISING. As Richie points out, they are just shells - usually aimed at drag racers - and would need some structural support.

The two half dash caps (from Rocky Auto and the previously mentioned ASW) are designed to fit over a damaged/cracked original dash in order to make them look more presentable. They only cover the top half of the dash.

Its from S30Z 2 book from Mook, and its full of parts available in Japan

the dash covers fit over the metal frame you have with the existing dash

Thanks guys!
I actually have a RHD 260Z dash, inc frame, which is pretty decent, but cracked.

I’d love to replace the skin of it with one that isn’t cracked, as I don’t have much faith in the long term survival of a repaired one.

Does someone make a full replacement skin for the 260/280 shape dash?

Thanks
