'Big Sam' - Octane magazine test

Reminds me of one of the earliest questions - for historic racing is he eligible ?

Quoted from the Bonham's auction description: "The car is already eligible and likely to be highly competitive in a variety of current historic championships, including the HSCC's Classic Saloons and the Masters Racing Series 1970s category...."

The car has been invited to race. I should think the Masters might be the most attractive to the new owner.

Alan, the figure of £78.5k was off the Bonhams site.

Yes, I understand that Rob - but it wasn't clear that this was the Hammer Price, inclusive of commission, but exclusive of the VAT on the commission. I wanted to try to make it clear what the buyer actually paid. Another post said that the total would be close to £90k inclusive of taxes, when the figure is actually - I believe this is correct - £79,987.50.....

Thanks Rob and Grolls for the suggestions, some interesting kit out there.

Here is a link to the sort of think that I like; it is a drawing of an Indian by the wonderful, sadly late, Bob Freeman; a site worth looking at just for his technical drawings.

Well it's a long story but we met in Falmouth--or Falmutt as the French seem to pronounce it! And she never shared my enthusiasm for Big Sam; maybe something to do "what are you buying that for when we could be using the money for......etc etc.." . Not unusual for all married car nuts I imagine.

Now a motorcycle is pretty much for one person....:)

Falmouse is the alternative pronounciation......should have bought her that boat then !

Mine likes taking corners in a RWD car - whole new experience so I'm ok but she's not yet a track-bunny but I'm working on it - a few corners and chicanes on the full Le Mans circuit was about the limit but we didn't have our harnesses on so she was hanging on - new seats are great but without velcro knickers, one tends to slide.....

Don't do a 'orrance with your new toy !

I don't know whether it is likely to happen or not, but it would be nice to see the new owner on here and give us his side of the story about the sale/purchase like you have Nick. Would be nice to find out any future plans for outings, shows, races (if any) or whether the car is gonna be moth-balled etc, etc.....

Jonathan

I suspect that I know who the new Owner is as he called me a few days before the Auction & said that he was abroad at the time & hence the succesful telephone bid. He is back in the country later this week & I will be nosy & ask the question as to what he will be doing with it.

He already owns three 240Z's, one of them a full Stage Historic Rally example, so no stranger to the Marque.

Thanks Duncan, might that mean it could be in your workshop occasionally?

If so I expect a heads up so I can just happen to be passing and call in for a coffee....;)

So there is little chance of this

but it would be nice to see the new owner on here

Happening, as surely it would have already occured to him/her to come on here....that is if he/she knew about this site and/or thought that this site would be of any use of course.

More positively, Nick has been here !
And perhaps it's up to Duncan to inform this gentleman that this site exists and that perhaps it may be of some use (or at least interest) to pop in and say hello from time to time and give us the fleet news !

And perhaps it's up to Duncan to inform this gentleman that this site exists
That what I was kind of hoping might happen:thumbs:

I will be delighted to inform this new Owner that he has a ready-made Fan Club, or at least, his car has, when he is back in the country.

That is as long as he's not too shy to come into the open, so to speak.

Yes we all know that Steve. However the internet has not yet reached Scotland so Willie would need to wait for news till the Pony Express reached his village:rolleyes:

And then send a reply South on another pony for someone to upload:lol:
