great looking project hope your keeping the original colour have fun chris

Hi Chris,
Many Thanks! Yes, I will be keeping to the original colour which I like a lot and suits the car. It has had a quick blowjob at some stage which isn't the same colour and will be corrected !

Reminds me of mine back in 1989; same colour (underneath), same wheels, same rust.

Good luck and I'm sure she's gone to a very good home - thanks for the photos - lovin' it.

Can we tell it was a steal - how much was it please ?

Lol, I paid what I thought it was worth and what the seller was prepared to accept. A good deal for both parties EXTRA:)

I've no idea how much it was and have no wish to know. I content myself with guessing it probably wasn't quite as much as it was advertised for.

Looks a great project - all there and just in need of refurbishment. The rust doesn't look as bad as it could by a long way. Time to take stock and sort out exactly how you want to play it ... I'd keep the colour as is but then i find myself leaning much more now towards stock restos. I see your future: Lots of planning, lots of researching, lots of simply enjoying working on it and lots of learning thrown in!

Exactly! I'll be around almost all of the time so please pm me and I'll get the kettle on - or the Nespresso depending on your preference EXTRA:)

Superb job!

I'm taking a long trip south to Burlsedon next weekend, I might pop round ... !

Looks like a mixed bag you have there. Amazingly good in some places, for a UK car, and typical of most UK cars in others. This is certainly the best unrestored UK car I have seen in a very long time. The under dash and floor pictures are as if they were taken in the 70's and reminds me of some of the US cars I've had.

A great buy IMO.

Interested to see why the front slam panel and headlight bowl attachment panel is so covered in 'stuff'.... BUT

I am going to go out on a whim here and say you've probably managed to acquire one of the better/best UK cars that I've ever seen, I should expect quite a few envious readers looking at this....including myself.

Good luck with the restoration, looking forward to it!

As noted already, it looks like a very good base to start from, especially for a UK car!

and the green paintwork is definitely a keeper, lovely colour :D

Thanks John, exactly that! Amazing condition in some places! Totally shot in others.

I certainly think the under-sealing and stone chip has saved it, but I'm a bit confused. I've read that the cars left the factory unprotected, but there is definitely green topcoat (that looks like the original Avocado Green 113 Metallic, rather that the green respray) over the top of under-seal. Could that possibly have been done at the UK dealership prior to being sold? Or more than likely by a previous owner?

I'm really reluctant to scrape it all off just to expose perfect steelwork underneath - but then I won't know unless I do  Maybe I'll just do some selective areas first!

And finally some pictures of the outside bodywork - it appears to have the rust measles ! Fortunately it is only surface rust, but will need to be sorted asap to stop things getting worse......

Couldn't get my cloudy thing to work so have reverted to the old fashioned way of doing things - a camera

Hi Sean,

Actually, I have nothing to hide - I paid the full asking price and am happy with that. Before I arranged to see it, the seller had told me that he had received a lot of inquiries and I believe him. Whether it was too much, maybe, but they don't come up too often and I'm very impatient by nature!

Better to have a semi decent un-restored UK Z than one that has supposedly been restored but with no photographic evidence of how well it was done.

Get it blasted and you'll see what you are working with.
