Agreed - even then a full resto would have cost +£10k.

depends on what needed doing? £2700 in 1990 must work out to about £7k in todays money. factor in parts would have been much cheaper back then also.

I get that but in 1990 most uk cars were very rusty

in 82 I had a new o/s wing and suspension leg, straighten out the inner wing (lamp post shape) and cost me £700.

Having restored a Z in 1990/1, I feel qualified to quote real prices - I agree with Viper, £2700 was probably a respray and a few metal touch-ups.
