Hey guys,

I'm after a R200 LSD checked over and the breakaway torque checked if possible. Does anyone know someone who could do this?

Bristol transmissions is the only place so far who will touch it and they want £200 just to open it up!

Is it a quaife LSD? Try calling Quaife they may be able to recommend one of their dealers to do it.

What do they actually mean by 'open it up'? If they want that to take the rear cover off and asses the condition and give a 'firm' estimate then that may not be too bad as long as that is included in the estimate if they do the work.

I opened it up on my own in the end to check condition. The clips that keep the axles in are super weak so I've removed them and bought others.

Anyone know how the hell to reinstall them? I've been at it a couple of hours trying to get them to sit straight to tap them in with a socket!

Its easy enough if you take the diff out of the case.
Just remember which bits came out of which side.

Yep easy enough taking the diff out. As Jon said note or take pictures of the position of the bearing carriers when you remove them. It’s important they go back the same side they came out otherwise the backlash and pinion to crown wheel position will be out. If you can get hold of a FSM, strip down and rebuilt steps are well documented.

However, just looking at that picture. You appear have a fair bit of corrosion coming on those crown wheel teeth. You might be able to gently clean them off with some emery paper. You can’t clean them too much as you’ll have uneven pinion crown wheel contact. However, if they are badly pitted you might want to get a professional opinion. If it’s too far gone that diff maybe more use as a boat anchor if that’s the case.
