Of the 13 recent cars they have all been nice in different ways. They all drive, feel, and sound different. The black one was the most civilised, quiet car that was comfortable and easy to drive, being a 2.8. I loved the green car for the great internal paintwork, the raw sound it made and the ratty look. The yellow car was a time capsule with the paintwork of a true untouched survivor car and I should of kept. Everyone who saw it loved it. The blue and white ones never really got touched so I didn't go through the bonding process. I enjoyed using the red 260z but it was an auto so had to be moved on. I love the driver experience of the current 260z which is the perfect fast road sporty S30. Not too track orientated to make it not usable everyday. Then there is 4BOA. Looked at it last week and the enginebay, underside and interior are all painted so nearly ready to reassemble. It will go back together in the spirit of the original car but fully restored as a club racer and then sold!!!!!! It will just be too clean a car for me to use. This just leaves the blue 1JZ powered car which will never be sold and has to be my favorite. So, I'm still looking for a second car to keep along with my blue one. It has to be a relatively standard daily usable LHD car. The yellow one was so close to being it but I just wasn't sure how to preserve it and still use it. I'm still hopeful that the silver car that arrives next Sunday will be the one as it ticks a lot off the boxes. Very straight rot free LHD car that's rough enough to not matter about scratches and dings but still has a certain coolness IMO. It's also not a high value car so can sit on my drive without me worrying too much about it. Not sure my wife will share my love of it though. My current backup plan is the 280z that's still sitting in the docks of LA, waiting for a ride to the UK.

Yes, it has become an obsession and is starting to take over my life but I love it and never want to stop. My wife encourages me to continue with this obsession not because she likes what I'm doing but she prefers it to the alternative which is building bespoke houses and moving every few years. She just doesn't want to move again and loves it where we are. So my love of zeds will continue.

Wow what a read, certainly have had experiences of all different types of build and finish over the years. Some really cool sounding cars in there in their own rights. I very much like the idea of finding a car that you can justifiably use every day and not worry about it. It must bring a smile to yours and so many other faces whenever they see them. Interesting as well that your favorite is car has its heart transplanted from a relatively modern car by comparison, I suppose there is so much scope options wise with the size of the engine bay.

You ever thought of completely resto-modding a 240Z?

Sounds like you have a very understanding missus! and great that you get so much enjoyment out of them. Space for these projects obviously isn't an issue for which i envy you
