Alternator charge rate

Hi all it seems I have to charge my battery more than I should have to, and was wondering if a few people can check the vlotage across the battery with a Volt meter.

1 when everything on the car is off ( this gives battery voltage)
2 start the car bring the revs up to 1500rpm ( this should give unloaded charging voltage)
3 with everything on eg headlamps blower fan wipers.

If someone could do that it would be great as I think my cars alternator is not kicking out enough to keep the battery topped up.

I have a new style internal regulated alternator with the loom adapter fitted.
Thanks for your help

Any zed will work with this.

The Alternator should be giving out 14.3v ( measured at the output of the Alternator with the engine at about 1,500rpm, so it doesn't matter what is drawing power ), whichever item is fitted - whether it is the 240Z or 280ZX, the voltage should be the same.

Anything less than 14v is insufficient for the electrical system to work correctly.

I know you're right just wondered what peoples cars are putting out mines lower than that but the alternator has only covered about 4000 miles? it's not a Nissan unit.. voltage should be nearly the same though.

the battery on my escort would not hold much charge and i had to call out RAC and he checked the amps in the battery and it was the battery that was old and worn out,i checked the volts and it was about 14 volts so i assumed it was something other.
