Did you fit it yourself? I've read that it's easy enough to fit and it's very popular in the USA, but the instructions still look pretty complicated?
Ah alright, there's a few people out there that have fitted it but no real guide on how its done, which I'd like before attempting it!

I opted to install this unit https://www.t7design.co.uk/products/air-conditioning/aircon-heater-combination-unit.html
It's very small and compact. It will fit nicely in place of the fan motor behind the glove box and blow directly into the original heater box .
I removed the original heater matrix and us the original housing still to direct air .(retaining original controls.)
My rb engine had a compressor .I guess with the purchase of the unit a condenser ,dryer, hoses etc about £800

Hi Neil - so your airco unit replaces the OEM heater matrix ?
My unit replaces the blower motor. As it is a evaporator/ heater matrix and blower motor combined unit.
The original heater matrix inside the centre distribution unit is no longer reqd.
So I removed it and blocked of the holes it now is just a distribution box for the air .(so all original controls work)
See attached photo the new unit blows either hot of cold a/c air into it
I've a simple inline cable operated heater valve for the water to the unit.

Thanks for the link guy, how do you find it? Cools/warms the cabin enough? If so that's a really neat package. I don't think I have the compressor on my RB but I could probably pick up a 2nd hand one if it would make it cheaper off eBay

I have a '74 260z 2+2 US import with factory air con. It doesn't work and might just need gassing, but I wouldn't get use from it anyway.
Is there any 'value' in keeping it (desirability, originality)? Or should I just remove it? It would get rid of a lot of unwanted spaghetti under the bonnet!

I worked on a friend's 280z with factory ac

It works well and is paired with vaccum management of flaps in dashboard

On my 280zx (USA version) it is the same system.
I have the manual AC and not the automatic temp control as Chris'.

It is not working now and is empty.
Was waiting for body restoration before fixing the AC but i will definitely fix it!

It is a Z I got for long range traveling and not track days so air-co is a must have.

T-Top, AC, power steering, quiet exhaust, 80L tank and plenty of room for luggages!
