A tale of two Zed Cars....

Gentlemen, after another child and several bouts of covid, house extension and loads of life-related stuff, Im firing up the restorations again.
The engine is back in the 240, but the real project I'm excited about is the 280z with the L26ET engine.

As this is a compete restomod from top to bottom, Im looking to build an entirely new dashboard and console from carbon fibre, and was planning on putting these clocks in from Speedhut USA in the traditional 2-3 Z-car layout. Speedhut seemed to have the right combinations of what I need, but open to ideas about other makes....?

As I am a retired gentlemen, I have decided to do Autocad and 3DStudio Max courses so I can do scale renderings and design components that can be 3d printed or made in a CNC Milling machine or laser cutter. Hopefully once I have done some renderings, I can post them here for your critique....

I have a Speedhut tacho that I'm very happy with.
What's motivating the custom dash idea? I must say, I've never seen one that looks better than an original IMO.

This is what MZR are doing which I like. I did phone them and ask if they sold the dashes, or where they made them, but its a trade secret and they are not telling...

To be clear, Im not copying this, but I wanted something a bit more modern than the OEM dash and with a double din stereo that looks integrated and not crow-barred in somewhere.MZR-Caraba-Studio-30684-1024x683.jpeg

Certainly looks better than most I've seen, but I still prefer the original. I'll be interested to see what you come up with.
