I hope it finds an owner that can love it. That might be a way off given the price but over the passage of time it’ll come down.

Although would a nice evo not be worth more?

New-2005
A doctor purchased this car from a UK dealership and carefully looked after it with a variety of hard to read (not the first time
1f603.png
:D) notes made in an original service manual with various work carried out and concourse show win in the 80ies. Believed to be undersealed and garage for the whole period with minimal usage.

2005-2015
In this short time the car has undergone the famous modifying craze and gained alof of filler but was minimally used.

2015-2018
Purchased by a Uni maths teacher who removed the whole bodykit and found a shell that was really good for the age as the filler helped save the metal. Needed parts like the bonnet were purchased and the whole car has undergone a 3 year restoration with many parts ordered from US, or custom CNC lathed. Window out respray in original colour has saved the car from scrapyard and it was MOTed and used for a few shows (Original advert as long as this available+ tons of pictures)

09.2018- now
I am a keen enthusiast and have a variety of 90ies JDM cars. This car has been a long time goal for me for which I swapped my 600bhp Supra. I kept further perfecting it with gearbox servicing, polished, waxed and kept under a cover. Sadly I rarely find time for this beautiful car and feel I rather sell it to be able to complete my other big projects. I only use it for shows and occasional days out which is a bit of a shame + she would feel best in a garage where you can perfect the remaining issues and have a unique classic investment/show stopper.

Faults:
Even though the car has had a huge list of work done, it’s 40 years old and I rather be honest and detailed not to waste our time.
-Carbs need further tuning, I purchased a special SU carb adjustment/balancing tool but the rear carb needs one of the seals replaced (available online)
-Bodywork has some age ware but still looks amazing. Front fenders have slight hairline stars due to initial fitment. Passenger side rear fender has a small defect.
-Speedometer works but does not illuminate
- Heater is stuck on cold, haven’t investigated, might just need a cable or switch?

Mainly due to the carb I don’t drive it much but can be driven back if you are local. I prefer preventative maintenance but don’t have the time and knowledge how to work on carbs and my mechanic is fully restoring my classic Honda CRX (140 miles away, good labour is worth the travel) which would only allow me to start work on this car by summer.

Overall this car has great potential to be one of the nicest 2+2 models and requires an enthusiastic owner to fully enjoy and further perfect this Japanese classic.

I am ideally after a cash sale to feed my other car/house projects but will consider a worry free p/x swap for something newer (ideally ~5k cheap to run comfortable estate to use as a motorway trip +cash or Evo+ cash.

Priced: £18.000

Well that love affair didn't last long, he only bought it in September. I do love the line .." I kept further perfecting it with gearbox servicing, polished, waxed". The saying "you can't polish a turd" comes to mind....

Well you can, but it gets smelly and you end up with brown flecks everywhere! Much like polishing the hidden rust!

Whats a shame here is that there are some incredible build threads yet you all find time to come on this one and slate it rather than commend the others.

Lets just take it for what it is - its a car that would have probably been parted out given its a 2+2 yet someone has taken the time to keep it on the road so we can at least have the enjoyment of potentially seeing it around...

Come on Dan, that's a tad unfair, a lot of the rebuild threads regularly get commented on an almost exclusively positively (if they're good) - what riles people where Don's former car is concerned is the fact that it wasn't well done at all an certainly not up to the standards of other rebuilds, yet was heavily promoted as being as good. People did try and warn this guy at the time as to the level of work done on the car - advice which he ignored.

I was a big fan of this car being saved. What I object to is the fact that he didn't address the fundamental issues and the lies he spouted to create a car to flip onto an unsuspecting buyer who now has to try to minimise his losses.

If he had done it to keep the car, fair dues but he wilfully misled the buyer. That I personally find objectionable and I'm certain many others do also.

Happy to ogle at your superb work / stunning car Dan and other amazing threads that make me wish I had more time / funds to do the same. But we also can't pretend this car is worth what is being asked for - in fact I wonder if the title should bear the car's plate so that future buyers may not be fooled into parting with £18k if they googled / researched it properly!?

I would be utterly gutted if I had parted with a 600BHP Supra for this lovely "looking" car based on the advert and Don's blatant lies.

I’m not disagreeing with what any of you are saying, it was in our eyes overpriced but the buyer would have hopefully done his research and come to his own conclusion. But again let’s look around at other right hand drive car asking prices... 40k gets you an Australian one with dodgy sill repairs and there is a recent car listed that was restored several years ago for 45k...

This is up for 18k... Priced fairly? Maybe for a useable car that you don’t have too worry about.

How do you know the condition of the Supra? Probably needed an engine rebuild? Who knows.

All valid but not relevant to your original point that I responded to - namely why are we bothering comment on this thread. You have my view; the key issue being the lies and duping the next buyer.

I hope you didn't buy your car with such rose tinted glasses.
