Yes, sad news. I didn't know him but knew of him because of being in some of the rallies. He was rallying interesting cars and got great results. Peter I can understand how you must feel, rally relationships are special. Your memories will live on.

I found this page having searched for the reg plate KEV824K as I have a photo of my dad co-driving in this car. I don't know if any of you will remember him, he was Dave Otridge. I think he navigated for Kevin 4-5 times, twice in the Datsun according to his (Dad's) list of rally results. It's been fascinating reading this thread as so many rallies and people from his list are mentioned here. According to Dad's list, the two rallies that he did in the Datsun were a 'Summer' rally on 23/6/73 and 'Cedos' (possibly) on 14/7/73. Hopefully I can upload the photo, can anyone confirm if this looks like Kevin?

The correct registration is 'KEU 824K' (so a letter U not a letter V) and it was on more than one car...
The photo does indeed show Kevin Videan driving, and the car is the original RHD iteration of 'KEU', which was built up from a standard UK market road car 240Z. Afterwards the 'KEU' number plate migrated to an LHD ex-Works rally 240Z.

Hi Tracy, I remember 'the name' from rallies I did and indeed your Dad appears in some of the results in the book about the MN Championship called 'Memory Lanes...revisited' . Fantastic Championship fantastic books. I have the '70 to '73 edition.
Anyway once a week I spend some 'quality' time with a glass of wine looking at old rally films on youtube. A hero of mine (and Nigel Brook's on here) was Andy Dawson who drove many cars including Datsuns (not Zs). I was watching an old RAC film last night and noticed this 'blood group' on the side of his car - quite a character.
Also another pic of the car your Dad was in (this time with Peter navigating):

Mention of Andy Dawson is interesting. I did the 1973 RAC International with Andy in a 'works' Chrysler Avenger Tiger whilst Kevin was in the 240Z with Peter Rushforth.
We got a class win in Gp.1 up to 1600 cc and 2nd overall Gp.1, beaten by a BMW2002 Tii.
When we did the article for Historic Race & Rally in 1992, Andy joined Kevin, Graham Robson and me with the Old Woking team at Chobham for a great day's driving. We all had a go in what was TKS33SU4079 (LPE66P).
I saw Andy recently at Barrie Whizzo Williams memorial event and we were laughing at the fun we had back in those days.
