Some steady progress this weekend sees the engine dropped back in the car.
I also unwrapped the freshly coated header.
Clean hands will be needed to install this !!DSCF7302.JPG DSCF7301.JPG

Maybe the flange was knocked together in a shed. Who knows. I didn't do it. Likewise the coating. I just opened the wrapper. I dont know who did it or how much it was?? Lots of money I guess. It does look nice tho...and that's what matters

With respect pète, what counts is that thé coating is efficient enough to obtain the desired résultats.

Sean that's just not true.
Everyone knows that the colour is the most important thing on an S30.
Wait till I post a pic of this white manifold against the grey engine block and you will see what I mean.

Although we have everything bolted in and wired up we couldnt start the engine today due to a perished O ring in the fuel rail.
The engine turns over nicely but when Steve switched on the fuel pump it sprang a leak from a union in the Jenvey fuel rail.
Annoyingly despite having a box of O rings in stock the 10mm we required was 2mm thick in the general purpose box and the original was 1.5mm thick.
No matter we can source some during the week and still get it fired up before Christmas........................................hopefully.!DSCF7313.JPG DSCF7315.JPG

Cute, but it's rthe engien I want to see more of but...what wheels are those, Rota RKRs ?

Well as you can see the engine is now back in the car fully rebuilt so there wont be any more opportunities for engine pictures.
The wheels are Rotas......info in picture.DSCF7316.JPG

How did Steve alter the timing? Same cam as before? how was the head looking? what size cutouts did he go for in the pistons?
I will answer your questions in order....
1. In my very first post in picture 5 there is a clue to how the timing is altered.
You also need a rolling road which isnt in the picture.
2. The cam is the same one .
3. The head looked a little bored as it hadnt been anywhere for a few months.
Im sure it will look happy when the engine is running again.
4. There is a picture of the cutouts in post 10 first picture.
You will have to measure them from that picture now cos the head is back in place now and
I cant get to them.

Yes Pete, in the first pic it looked to only have 5 pistons also.
You said that already.
Let me explain...it wasnt a "trick" picture or anything like that. I guess the other rod was still lying on the bench when I snapped the pic.
If your reply was an attempt at humour then great.
If not then lets just move along.

My fault Pete, I thought you were going to post some pics of Steves engine being built along with a bit of 'thought' about why he's done the things hes done along with the changes old from new, hence the 'rebuild - refresh' in the title. Not 'Picture of engine out, picture of engine in'.
