is there a solid point on the bulkhead Huw? for the 3 point? On the 240z ones, the bulkhead mount might as well be on paper.

That was my first thoughts, but it is pretty solid at the bonnet catch. Should be ok.

Decided to give this a try and got one in. Fits really well with good clearance over the cam cover. Nice little detail touches such as ‘280ZX‘ cut into the tower mounts etc. Most importantly it can be unbolted at one side and swung out of the way allowing access to the engine for tinkering without having to remove the whole brace bar. My old brace bar had to be removed from the strut towers all the bleeding time I wanted to do work on the engine.
Down side, it comes in black wrinkle finish (which I don’t like very much) and the aluminium components for the fire wall mount are anodised a rather boring grey colour.
A trip to see Nick at Reality Motorworks in Bristol fixed that. He polished and re-anodised the aluminium bits a nice fetching blue. Also stripped the wrinkle finish off the tower mounts and brace bar and had them plated in gold zinc.
Trial fitted tonight and I think it looks much better. Just some paint damage to touch up on the strut towers from the old brace bar and it’s done.
