280zx renovation

Hi, I've been a member off and on for many years and now I am planning to renovate my car but I need some advice. She is a 280zx 2+2 targa 1981 model, bought her in 1985, but not run for some years.
I don't quite know where to start. I know I am going need body panels, I have a willing welder but need the panels, does anybody know where I can get some?

Hi.

Depends on what you need. I doubt you will find many new in the UK unless some one is selling their private stash or old stock clearance, eBay would be best for that. States or Japan probably get a few again depending on what your after but prices and shipping will be steep.

Best bet is a breaker or fabricate them your self. Anything structural you will need to fabricate. Wings, bonnets, doors and tailgates come up on eBay now and again.

Best of luck, panels for 280ZX are not plentiful. Most UK based Z specialist no longer carry stock for them as there isn’t the market for them anymore. Just got to keep looking in the classifieds.

Hi, thanks for replying.
Yeh I understand that there is poor demand for 280ZX parts, guess I was hopping for old stock or common parts with other Datsuns !
Initially i need :- passenger rear wing, radiator core support and ledge brackets, engine bay strut support covers (if there is such), rubber bushes etc for suspension.
If there is anyone with suggestions (non rude).

Hi Stuart

Probably best looking at a breaker and cutting off any good panels. Chap on the forum Mark (minksport) was breaking a 2+2. I suggest you reach out to him and see if he can help.
