All 280ZX gearboxes bolt up to L24/L26 engines, but beware the differences in clutch size and type which vary year to year. There are four different clutch types and three different flywheel types between 1970 and 1983.
The changes in release bearing carrier heights to match different clutches has been covered previously - use the search to find older posts.

And the later ZX box is preferable to the early one (better ratios), 81 to 83 identified by having only one exhaust mounting ear on the end of the tailshaft as opposed to two.

so, the gearbox on this picture has only one ear for the exhaust and therefor is the wrong one?
