Sorry Derrick I used Imgur to replace the mess Photobucket left behind. I should have been clearer in my comment.

Hi Mike.

That looks like the fella. Nice bit of kit. Works well with the S14 box, car is a real pleasure to drive.

Huw, Why didn't you just fit an R32 Skyline GTS-T gearbox?

FWIW they are internally similar to the S14 unit, except they are the same length as your original 280ZX 71B unit.
You wouldn't have had to hack up the gearbox cross-member, shorten the TS or stuff around with the centre console...

I assume this is the same for the 240Z then?

I'm on the lookout for a good 5 speed but struggling, can I look for an rb26 5 speed too?

Just keep an eye on eBay - not the app as that returns a reduced set of results. I watched every day on the train to work for about 3 months and a great s14a popped up from a written off car for just under £300.

In fact 2 appeared at the same time from different sellers and I missed the very low mileage one for £400 as it sold before I finished viewing the listing!!! Some breakers don't realise the rarity and just want to get a quick return.

Just be patient and one will pop up.

You can also include the s13 Box in your search - it's an fs5w71c too, it's just got a slightly fiddlier version of the gear change selector mechanism. Still a good upgrade on the original.

1st is irritatingly short imo. I haven't really noticed a difference with the others.

Aha! Genius! It always had me wondering why it did that!

On a 240/260 what are people doing with regard to the shifter gaiter? I’ve driven my car around for a week now with no gaiter and the gear change is great. Having now fitted a new 240z gaiter it is much harder to push it into gears as the rubber restricts movement. The gaiter also pulls it out of 2nd and 4th. Any ideas as to an alternative gaiter?
