280z front tow hooks. Do I need an upgrade?

Hi all,
I am looking at the tow hooks at the front and they don't make sense to me... the hook is right behind the bodywork, which means that it will destroy the valance panel if I tow it from there! Can anyone help me to either understand how the car should be towed, or to suggest an upgrade?

Just to complicate things - I think they're tow hooks. Tie downs look like this:

I'll be remaking tow hooks that can be bolted on in minutes when needed ,early next year.

Bolts into where the bumpers attach so strong enough but on a 280Z......might be more complicated !
