Good to see your making progress and nice colour block.

My build started in earnest today and the engine builder has started taking measurements. He has already said the CR is too low and is suggesting taking 0.5mm off the head and block to get the CR up from 10.3 to 11.4. Piston top was at deck height.

11.4 is a big number, was unsure about going that high, perhaps 10.8. What cam will u use?

I’ve done volumes and piston height checks today etc today. I’m o.37mm below top of block so I can skim on either the head or the block.
Head cc’d at 46cc which matches standard n42 ok. Piston cutouts only took 1cc.

I think 10.8 is tops for a open chamber designs like E88 and n42.
Before I did my p90 head I ran my E88 at 11.1:1 and it pinged a lot. I put a thick gasket on to drop it to 10.8:1 and it still pinged a little. It's what pushed me to do the p90.

Also - to get the benefit of whatever Squish the head has, the piston must reach to within 1mm of the head, so I'd at least run the pistons flush and 1mm gasket.

On my engine, the pistons are 0.25mm up with a 0.8mm gasket.

Thanks John, I’d gone really easy when the block had its initial skim so it looks like I need to skim another 0.4mm. The longer stroke is pushing the compression up so it gives me chance to shape the chambers and gain a few cc.

I think this looks fantastic but I’m sure it will divide opinion, attached pics are a tester for the final colour of the car. Almost Datsun 113 green but with a touch more sparkle.

Will be amazing and refreshing change from the current trend of 918 orange and lately 920 Sahara golds:EXTRAcool:

Since when did any factory colour become a "trend"...?

Since 2010 I reckon. Prior to that the trend was to paint the cars in shades of red ,blue, black ,etc. Resprays in 918 or 920 shades were 1 in 100 if that ?

Only recently has there been a trend to try out the lesser popular factory colours.

Is it known how my cars were sold in what colours? As I don't think the VIN details that, I'm guessing probably not. Blue interiors (early cars only) aren't common though, I know that much!

I talk from having a US car, I don't know about UK cars. My old fastback had ALL the details, plant, colour, interior trim, axle, engine etc. (on a data plate)

Colour looks fantastic by the way!

The skoda would be too light, not show off the curves as well.

tell me you're going to have a butterscotch interior also? Please :)
Sorry to disappoint, I don’t think I’m ready for Butterscotch yet!
Sombre black for me, along with all the bright work.
