Fantastic craftsmanship!
I don't know how you manage to sleep at night with what this must be costing you.
I guess you’re past the point of no return by now though.

Yes, its really skilled, Dave is nailing it, can't imagine how many hours you have to put into metalworking skills to make what he does look as easy as he does.

Yes, it well past the point of no return so not got much choice. I have just accepted that I will have no money for anything until its done.

Absolutely incredible skilled bodywork.

Make sure 'Dave' is healthy and content in his job - to lose him would be a disaster.

Your car is being rebuilt like a Morgan - bespoke panels.

Yes, highly skilled, great to watch.

I hope Dave is happy, I know its stretching his skills, but I'm sure that rewarding for him, I might not be the easiest customer, plenty of fussy requests from myself and I'm a bit anal so hopefully I'm not pissing him off. Given that I will be putting literally just about an entire years salary to him for this I expect he can put up with it.

Dave seems to know what he's doing. The man's a genius.
I would have to concur. Definitely a metalworking wizard.

I now own something else from the same year as my Car.

1978 Honda CX500. In very rough condition and requiring an engine rebuild - Something to keep me busy once the Datsun is back on the road.

I am not aware of any replacement panels that are available that I didn't use.

I any had been available that I did not know about it would have been helpful is someone could have pointed me in that direction. I didn't get many options when I asked at the start of the restoration for help finding panels so I assumed there were as few available as I managed to find myself.

Not that you must have many panels left, but KF Vintage are releasing some new S30 panels in March 22 - may be worth dropping them a message to see if anything you need is coming your way?

Workmanship is topnotch, as everyone continues to say, I'm very excited for your updates!

Thanks. But thankfully I do not need any more panels for the remainder of the work that I do not already have and by March the metalwork will be complete.

Amazing to see what Dave has been busy doing since I last logged in here. His craftsmanship is truly spectacular, I can only dream of having a car with a shell as immaculate and solid as yours will be once finished.

Really glad to see that you're still plugging away with the rebuild, I know how easy it can be to get downhearted with it all given all of the challenges, hurdles and costs that present themselves along the way. Very excited to see the next update when I next check in.

Yes, very busy, over 800 hours now.

The end of the metalwork is at least in sight, which is good, I'm going to have to pause work soon as I don't have the money to finish the bodywork just yet. But I am hoping I can get the metalwork finished before that.

Some of the final repairs on the pass door, some very rotten sections, they have been perfectly repaired though.

Work on the passenger side quarter. The panels fitment was pretty far off as you can see. The swage line was very far off and needed to be removed and added in the correct place.

The old bumpers were a bit tired looking, The new ones are made from stainless so I shouldn't have this problem.

Lots of work on the English Wheel for these panels.

Dave had them fitting good after a lot of adjustments and test fits I'm sure.

My Plans of having this back to build up in the summer are likely gone, can't see this being on the road until 2023 now as I will be taking a pause from work shortly as I have no money left. It will still be back with me this year, so will be aiming for early Summer net year for on the road.

Do you mean 'IT' will be taking a pause from work - I assume you are still working?

And is the car leaving Dave and being transported back to Ireland?

That upsets me - so much has gone into this car.

How does 'crowd funding' work?

That makes me feel a little bit sick!
Tell me about it.

I should have worded that better. I will definitely still be working, I even have two rooms rented out in my house to try and help. No, its the car that work will stop on soon. Hopefully after the rear end metal work is complete leaving only a few jobs on the front end.

The car will just go to Dave's storage and he can work on on of the many other cars waiting for his work.

Don't worry, it will be completed, and properly, and by Dave, just a later than ideal completion. I expect once its out again it will be worked through to completion.

Rear Panel and Bumpers

The quarter panels were removed and bent round to meet up with the rear panel.
