Derek, one bit of advise when painting the car:

Get the bonnet and wings 'wrapped' with clear film so that when those girls at the 'show and shine' events have their pictures taken sprawled all over your car :p they won't spoil the paint.

i know he likes to get home and sniff the bonnet ...:D

Derrick, offhand doors and most of the inner fittings being the main difference, so glass, winders n door mechs as well as the actual doors all being different. Sure the rear suspension struts are longer or poss the top mounts? Later belts are inertia reel n the stalks are longer. A lot of the other parts do interchange or you can get away with, but just check before you buy !

Derrick - my car is a 1978 260Z which is more or less original. If you are ever free on a Friday (my day off) I would be prepared to drive over to you in it so you could check what goes where, measure stuff, photograph stuff etc. It would be a 250-mile round trip for me but I would do it if you think it would be helpful?

Derrick - you can have a good look at a very nice late-260 as a reference point. And then decide which of the boring snoring standard bits you want to modify on yours! :p

Chop the arches and put overfenders on. Robert will love that!

I jest of course Riddler. Top man for such a generous offer. Definitely an excuse to avoid domestic chores or her indoors though!

No problem Derrick - just let me know when you are ready but try and give me a couple of weeks' notice. I would be happy to accept your offer of a pie and a pint (real ale preferred) for lunch at a pub of your choosing!

Coming from you, Richie, I take that as a compliment.

Actually, my wife normally asks me to spend my day off making passionate love to her while sharing a couple of bottles of champagne, but I told her: "The Z Club has to come first! You'll just have to crack on with the chores while I toil away for about six hours at the wheel of my Z." I think she understands . . .

Excellent Derrick. Looking forward to this!

Did I mention I NEED those wheels (should you change them)? :D ;)

It looks really good Derrick - well done.

Surprisingly it makes the 280ZX appear to be smaller - it must be the rear spoiler and the fact that it's 'sitting' a bit high.

I'm looking forward to this 'little project'.

A big ass tyre! A tad mismatched I think... :p

Maybe it was built for oval track racing lol

There's a couple SSR Mk2's on Yahoo JP currently at ~£225, I very nearly put a bid in when I first saw them.. So tempted I was considering what mismatched wheels would look like

Good look with the build Derrick! Hopefully the body is in a decent enough condition that you don't have to spend too much time on it :)
