As of today, The Z Club is officially listed on the DVLA V765 scheme for aging vehicles for first registration in the UK. We are also now members of the FBHVC.
These two advances should make my aging letters more acceptable again...
Anyone having their application rejected might need a reprint of the aging letter with the addition of our new status. Additionally, the Nissan data is proving to be important.

Well done Mike, thanks. Your aging letter worked fine for me when we had local DVLA offices but as the Classic Press predicted the service would get worse with centralisation. That's what worries me about most organisations these days and some are life threatening too (Ambulance, Fire etc)

That's a bummer about Nissan's data being important - I asked them about mine, and they said they have no info on when my car was made :-(

Mine came back from the DVLA rejected as the club wasn't registered with them, they processed it 1 day before Mike got the confirmation. Ah well sent back again, better luck this time

I think Nissan respond better to requests for chassis numbers related to the cut-off dates. Your car will be eligible next year, but we can only take a proportional guess at what month in 1974 it was built.
I have asked Nissan for currently applicable and future data for 260Zs, but am awaiting a reply as they have been closed 25th April to 7th May...

Just had a reply from DVLA to confirm that the teams working on Historic applications have been informed of the updated Z Club status and that we "should not have any problems now with...applications".

Keep me informed!

Following continued problems with acceptance of Club letters, I now have the following communication from DVLA:

Good morning Mr Feeney,

I have been looking into this for you and it appears that the confusion has been caused because our 'List of Vehicle Owners Clubs' (V765/1) booklet has not yet been updated with your information. This booklet is updated regularly every 3 to 4 months and your details will be included in the next update.

I would like to apologise for the confusion that this has caused but I can now confirm that we have contacted our taxation department and advised them to accept evidence from your club.

If you have any members that have had their applications rejected because of this, you can now advise them to re-apply.

I hope to have been of assistance.

We knew this already, but DVLA departments obviously don't communicate with each other...

Yippee... Just had a call from a very nice man at the DVLA ... I am now the proud owner of an historic 240Z... 1973.
The only trouble is that the MOT has now run out while I was waiting.. Well best get it booked in.

Just checked my vehicle status on DVLA website, showing currently taxed and Vehicle excise duty rate for vehicle of £0.00.

1974 registered 260z now Tax free!

Have been notified today by DVLA that my March 1974 registered 260Z (but with a low VIN number) now officially falls within the historic classification and there is no longer a payment for road tax!!
Many thanks to Mike for his help and advice on this:thumbs:

My real question is how do I find out what month and year my car was produced,it has the number of 001062 and was first registerred in 1975.If I need to email Nissan to find this info could anyone supply me with an email address. Thank you and kind regards to you all.anthon51

Interesting news from Nissan, they confirmed that 260z models manufactured in 1973 are VIN RS30-000003 to RS30-000563. A range that includes my VIN, hope theirs some other folks here who from next year will have a tax exempt car
So my car falls In those numbers but my logbook says 1975 does that mean the logbook is wrong?

your logbook probably says when it was first registered. Maybe it was in dealer stock for a year or more.
