260Z Manufacture Date Information

Sadly a V765 has no relation to my application, and the DVLA will only now apparantly accept manufacturer proof on an official headed note paper, not email.

No? I thought your application was turned down as the ZClub was not on the list of recognised clubs and that a dating letter would only be accepted by one of those clubs?

Maybe Dale, but a V765 is a form to retain/reissue an age related plate not a taxation class change, I think the process will be long and drawn out, I've had another 'chat' with our friendly and completely inept DVLA.

Oh well, might as well get it off sorn whilst the weathers good

As far as I can ascertain, getting accepted for V765 age processing gets you on "The List" and therefore acceptable to provide aging letters for Historic Taxation.
From time to time I have had to do V765 related work, e.g. resurrected shells and new imports from abroad, so it is relevant for us to be registered.
Apologies to all affected, but the DVLA have been accepting our information for at least ten years now, so it comes as a considerable surprise to me that we are no longer acceptable!

...from that one person this particular day possibly Mike?

JK could well get a completely different answer tomorrow from someone else!

Mike, I deal with the DVLA on a daily basis in my proffesional capacity, and absolutely nothing comes as a surprise at all, so no apology needed here. In fact had it come back first time with no hiccups I would have been more than surprised believe me ;)

Right, sod the DVLA, I've taxed it for 6 months again whilst I wait for the club to get approved and the letter from Japan and I am now on hols for a week so I'm off for a blast round the Lakes tomorrow with a night here at the end of it, just me and Mrs K. :D

Yes Mike, your letter a couple of years ago worked for me ok. However I dealt with the old 'local' office which was Bedford I think, not Swansea. No longer an option though!

Well I emailed Nissan yesterday afternoon and overnight got a reply from them see the attachment, how efficient is that :thumbs:

So I emailed the chap at the DVLA I was speaking to yesterday just now and guess what I got back..... a bloody out of office reply, how typical is that :smash::smash:

Oh well its taxed now for 6 months, but I am proper impressed with Nissan, if this was a Land Rover it'd take at least 6 months...:lol:

They'll probably come back and say 'unfortunately we cannot process your application as the car make on your V5 document does not match the make stated in the email from Nissan'

Just had my application rejected as we'll not impressed. I did email Nissan a week ago and did get a response which clearly states my car was made in 1973! I will be sending the whole lot back to the in the morning stating that the average delivery time on Nissan / datsun from the japan to the uk was approx 3 months from order! Thus making it impossible that many cars were made in 1974. Unless they had a very fast ship or a transporter from Star Trek... Stupid silly jobs worthy without one ounce of logic between them...

Ha ha, I thought the same Dale, but no our incredible and efficient (sarcasm intended) DVLA have emailed me about a couple of hours ago

Having liaised with my caswork team, I can now confirm that the letter you have emailed today, can be accepted as evidence for your vehicle’s manufacturer date.

They have even said they will refund the tax I paid in full remarkably!!
Result, eventually.

Just make sure your exchanges with them are polite
Remember they must be dealing with thousands of cases alll at once and would imagine that they are meant to query a set % to show they are meeting their quota

Your success may result from our own conversations with DVLA pointing out the same points made above. I feel the need to reiterate what Steve is saying - the situation needs careful handling and for individual members not to vent their spleens too readily!
We are working to get it sorted and the fact that you have had a reversal is an indication that someone is listening...
Workers at DVLA are (I'm guessing) not generally car enthusiasts and will fail to recognise the passion engendered when all they are doing is reading and following the huge tomes of dry instruction handed down to them...

I have returned all my documents to include the dating letter from Nissan and a polite reminder that they have accepted the clubs letters before as dating evidence. Lets hope this time I get the status my car deserves. If my cars historic.. I must be fooking ancient! just an old fossil driving around in an historic car..

Really? I'm sorry Mike, but my success has nothing whatsoever to do with your speaking to the DVLA! It is purely and simply because I have a letter from Nissan confirming date of manufacture.
That and that alone is the reason I have achieved a taxation class change. However for the benefit of other members going forward I would suggest that the club is recognised by the FHBVC as soon as possible.

Have not received anything back from the DVLA (sent my documents on the 14th) so had to SORN the car today. Have contacted them and they are looking into it (thanks to whoever reminded me to send the documents recorded, they can't do anything via email without the reference). I also sent them the written letter JK got as additional evidence on top of the letter from the club and the original email I got from Nissan, hopefully thats enough!

JK240, how long after getting your email from the DVLA accepting the letter from Nissan did you get your reclassification? Was hoping to take the car out at the weekend but don't want to tax it if I can help it (ran out on the 30th)

Tom, I sent all the info to DVLA recorded too they reckoned they'd lost it so accepted my email copies and on the day I sent them the Nissan letter I got an email confirming they would accept it as a proof and my disc and new V5C would be sent out. I got them a few days later.

I sent my information off during the first few days of April and haven't yet heard anything. Frankly, whatever the outcome I do really appreciate the responses Mike has made to me during the months prior to April and I think that he has (and continues to be) more involved in this matter than might be understood.
