Thinking ahead to next year, Is there a list somewhere of 1974 manufactured chassis numbers?
mines 731 & registered 01/03/1975. I'm hoping this year will be my last tax disc purchase.

Jon,

Maybe ask TomZupra, I know he had an email reply from Nissan which he kindly forwarded to me with the '73 chassis range so he may be able to at least give you the email address to enquire about '74 chassis range, or Mr.F may have same info??

Cheers,

JK

PS My application has gone in this mornings post so I'll let you know how it goes too :)

The helpful DVLA lady explained that the procedure is now that the Post Office can change taxation class when applying for a tax disc!

Apparantly, all I need to do is take the relevant doc to the PO on the first, change taxation class on V5C to Historic and they will issue me a nil value tax disc, take my reg doc and send it to DVLA and I will get it back in approx 4 weeks re-classified.

Sounds easy enough, until I get to the PO and the jobsworth behind the counter doesn't understand the procedure perhaps :D..................

Well I'm pleased to report that it worked - couldn't have been easier. Thanks for the 'heads up' JK.

All my documents have been sent off.. Together with the copies of the emails regarding classic club dating evidence.. I will now wait and see.

Well it looks like we will be waiting a long time Zed, I sent my documents and evidence off on the 26th March and yesterday rang DVLA as I still had heard nothing. They had not recieved it they said, so I quoted the recorded deliver number and they then decided it had not made it to the correct department and if I emailed the copies they would look into it.

I got this reply just this morning

Good Morning Mr Kinghorn

I have passed your documentation over to our casework team and unfortunately, it is not acceptable as evidence, as The Z Club are not included in our List of Vehicle Owners Clubs manual.

They have told me, however, that if you contact one of the people listed below, they will be able to assist you in this matter:

Rosy Pugh, Nigel Harrison or Bob Owen
The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs Ltd

Taxation Team

So club dating letters sadly are not worth a carrot :( And the DVLA choose to disregard the info from Nissan by email.....

I'm on the phone to them now. :smash::smash:

That's annoying JK, I sent my info off last week. Looks like I will have to tax it again as it up at the end of this week.

I wonder how hard it would be to get the Z Club added to the List of Vehicle Owners Clubs?

They don't regard the evidence from the car manufacturer themselves?!

Wow, DVLA, you're amazing!

I am contacting the FBHBC today. Let's see if getting on the list is easy.
DVLA are behaving badly seeing as these letters have been acceptable for 240Zs up to 1972 in the past - useless...
Anyone contacting the DVLA might point out that they have happily accepted our letter for the past ten years!

Very annoying indeed, no apology for losing my documentation, I've emailed the FBHBC also Mike, but don't expect that to be a speedy resolve, I may be being cynical but if it was an MG or a Triumph the flat cappers may be interested in helping me out but they're still predjudiced IMO.

DVLA are incredible though, how can your email from Nissan not be proof alone Tom...????

No I wasn't wrong, the FBHBC have replied and are completely uninterested

Jonathan

The club is not a member of the DVLA’s V765 scheme and so cannot process this application. DVLA are correct here. The club has applied to join the scheme I understand. The club is not a member of this Federation either so I am sorry to tell you that there is little we can do at this point beyond assisting the club to join the DVLA’s scheme (which is in hand).

If all does fail please do come back to us and we’ll try and think of a plan B.

Totally contradicted by the reply I received:

The DVLA have given you incorrect information. The inclusion on the list is
purely a matter for DVLA and not us. I will email the DVLA about this (it
isn't the first time they've done this) and I'm sure someone will be in
touch.

We would love to have you as members of course - I've attached an
application form just in case!

Same person replying...

I'll fill in the form and get into the Federation anyway, but DVLA need a stick pushed up their...

This going to cost the Club money, so small delay whilst I get approval from the Grand Master of the Finance...

I now have contact from DVLA and a form for me to join the V765 scheme even though this is for re-issue of registrations that have been out of use. At least it gets us on the "List".
This isn't going to happen overnight, but the Club will pay the FBHVC fee even though we will have to pay again in June.
