I can't tell the difference between the top two (with 240Z) apart from the fact they are in different states of knackedness and are the digits thicker on one of them?

The bottom three all look the same to me! What are the subtle differences. I prefer the sans 240Z ones ...

A little quarter panel emblem quiz:

Which came first, which one do you think looks most 'right', and which one looks like a last-minute lash up?

I would guess either three or five came first on the JDM non-vented quarters.
I think four and five look most right (vented and non-vented respectively).

I think the ones on the white car look best. The 240z ones are out of proportion and oddly offset.

Safari Gold and white (3+5) Alan for the JDM market ?

I've never liked the first two which are obviously different from each other :

1 = all white solid letter and number
2= silver numbers and inset white letter

And look like afterthoughts......but then so too does the bonnet badge.....did they really plan that for the JDM and export markets or an after-thought ?

My favourite is still the white no.4

Ah, I see now, the middle one of the bottom three similar ones has the vented bit in the middle ... pic is quite dark to see that at a first glance.

Still prefer the bottom three to the one with 240Z stuck somewhat awkwardly on it ... it's all just opinions.

Out of the bottom three? Don't care ...

I have been into zeds for quite a while but it's only since the internet that I've learnt a lot more (and still don't know that much about non UK versions). In the late 80's I had a 240z. I know it was a 240z because it had a badge that said so and it was also written in the log book. A friend of mine had a 260z which had a 260z badge on it so I know that was a 260z and it had an extra couple of seats in the back making it really easy to tell the difference even if the badges were removed. I later removed the badges but still everyone knew it was a 240z. Later I come across what I thought was a 240z but it had different lights on the back and I found out it was a 260z 2 seater. How confusing! Then there was the 280zx which was easy to identify. Life was so simple then. Why have things become so complicated to the extent that I can no-longer call a 240z a 240z without being corrected? I blame the internet :)

Hi Paul
Interesting your comparison to the early E Types etc, I'm a Series 1 etype man

As for the Z's I guess it all depends what you wanna do with it. I had really early 240 but didn't feel as comfortable modding it as I did with my US 280.
