Don't forget it was Datsun UK a private concession and no Nissan who made the calls re the UK imports and sales.
Also, maybe the two seater S30 production was too busy elsewhere (yes I know these were RHD but I can't claim to know if they were on the same production line(s), maybe the RHD 2 seater S30s were being better sold elsewhere...
Because import quotas were limited and expensive, there was prhaps more profit to be made on 120Ys and Cherrys, Bluebirds etc or let's say less capital tied up for less time.
My point is : it's not necessarily because the 2+2s were selling better that the 2 seater was dropped.
All this should be compared with other markets to put it into perspective and then throw in local and Nissans' marketing strategies !
