Slightly off topic, but related to 901 Silver
I am doing a nut and bolt restoration at the moment on a 1971 HS30 ex-South Africa, nothing too wild but with subtle improvements over stock.
Original colour was 901 Grand Prix Silver.
My old school classic head says you should always retain at least an original period factory colour, if not the actual one it left the factory wearing.
However, slowly S30Z's are changing my opinion. No two cars are the same (which makes them all the more interesting) and I think the Z is one of those rare cars that can cross the barrier between old school classic and custom car without losing anything in the interpretation.
Dilemma, go back to the factory 901 Silver (I think the overwhelming popularity of 'modern/new' Silver cars a few years ago is clouding my judgement as we all eventually became fed up with the colour) or another factory colour or (tut tut) a non-original colour.
I know colour is subjective, everyone will have a different idea but generally is Silver a decent option for a blank canvas Z ?
If I don't go Silver, I am considering going against my old school ideas and maybe off piste with a non-original colour somewhere between Safari Gold and 918 Orange. 918 is too terracottery and not bright enough as an orange for me (sorry Franky and all ye disciples
).
