240z - Volcanic Orange Right Hand Drive Conversion Project

Noticed it getting a bit stale on here just before winter sets in so me and one of the operatives had a late night tonight pulling my next Z project apart, started at 4 pm today and finished at 9, quite pleased with the progress, now as you can see the car is blue which i thought was over factory 110 red even the paint code sticker confirmed this, now i know i probably wont be believed but the whole car and i mean the whole car is 112 lime under the red and must have been colour changed at the factory even under the dash has the two colours and i can tell that certain parts have never been taken off from new has this ever been seen before? i'm thinking that as the lime was never very popular the were the cars (just shells) put through the painting bay in the factory as i'm aware that customers would wait for the next shipment of cars for the right colour of choice

I don't know the answer to this but having an extra coating of paint from the factory, as you say, must have helped to preserve her. Is she solid?

Be nice Richie but my engine budget would go out the window idea is to get a donor car with all the bits needed and more then buy a shoehorn and see if it fits ;)

Why were we both searching for the same engine last night!

I've been going round and round in circles between 1jzgt, 1jzge, 2jzge, rb25det, rb25de, and the later rd25de Neo. Then there's always the rb26de in the back of my mind. The rb wins hands down on gearbox availability and price, plus general ease of fitting. I would also want to keep the cost down and change nothing on the engine but they all look **** with the "across the rockers" induction. I know it's needed to get low end power but just looks so wrong. The neo probably looks the worse as they have tried to make it look like a v6 with that great big lump of plastic on top. Or you you could go from 200 to 300hp and drop a BMW in there. I think it's doable.

That engine is well overpriced Matt as it is just for the short block and head. Ideally you need it complete and with loom and gearbox.

Rob - Yes it MUST be straight 6. The engine bay is straight 6 shaped and anything else would just look wrong. For me it has to look like it was probably meant to be there and I'm guessing Terry feals the same way.

Oops, Terry should be answering his thread not me.
