RB20DE? But, in that scenario, you may as well go for the RB25 for the extra bhp.

I have to admit, I hate the aesthetics of the Neo version of the 25. It looks cheesy. I'm sure additional horses could be released from the older version to make up the shortfall. There are high lift cams for the DE and even tubular headers, which have been modded before for Z use. It all depends on budget and aim though.

Thought process is to get rid of smelly gas guzzling carbs for a nice smooth 200 ish horse with good mpg I do have the option of a lexus V 8 auto, I feel the need for a Z with bags of torque 4 speed auto with converter lock up

He doesn't have to - he's got the classic side more than covered with a couple of cars. NA RB is a great option - a relatively modern engine that suits the car in character and fits nicely. Lexus V8 - not so sure about that one. Then again, that's one Rocky Auto have done here and there to Zs and Hakosukas.

Besides as Richie said i can quite happily go to the local classic car show with the blue one, then turn up at at the american car show in the lime one (done that the other day at my local)

or have a day out in the orange track weapon or retro show (Ta Moggy)

I recently put a 3.54 diff in the blue car had a good blast round Rockingham raceway and cruised back at under 3000 rpm

Now all need to do build is a motorway muncher i am leaning towards the Toyota V8 300 hp

From memory (I look into the 1uz every once in a while when I find a fiver in some old jeans) the non-vvti is much easier to work with

I'll have a better look tonight but from memory the con-rods were thinner, fly-by-wire throttle and some aftermarket ECUs don't like the VVTI. Don't know if any of the above are an issue for you though

Your right Tom but i have the stock ecu wiring sorted which ia also married to the auto box connected via a speed sensor and shift patterns, 1uz 260 HP 3uz VVTI 300 HP out the box a lot of Hp for £700 bought this today but have been giving it a good test over the last few days what better way to buy a donor car its been sitting around for the last 9 months as payment for a bad debt so i nicked it rely

He did some funky work with the exhaust to make it sound like a flat plane crank (description at 4.50)

I think I helped you out on that one Terry. He tried to get me to buy it last Saturday and I told him he'd be lucky to get much more than £600 for it when he said he wanted a couple of grand. Not heard of the 3uz before. Is 4.3lt going to be enough for a cruiser? Have you had a look at the sump yet? I know the aristo 2j's were the wrong way round.

All the u z blocks can take any of the 3 sumps available front mid or rear this one is at the front but is only a tin pan and highly modifiable, he offered me that car about 4 months ago for about 800 quid think I told you, I did remind him of that when I got it started and the front suspension was crashing around and the brakes grinding on the rust the when we got back and on the ramp the diff had blown a seal so he rolled over at £700 must have helped you telling him £600 though, so he gave me £300 and I'll pay his months rent, you know how it works John

I've read that you can use the Auto Bellhousing, and it's an easy job to make up an adaptor plate to fit a W58 Box.

It is a cracking engine Matt switched of the traction control and shifted the box manually today and the tyres light up in 1st and second, yes manual would be exciting and another 2k on the build price, but i'll keep looking

Yes i did get your links mate and had a good read, i think i read somewhere that the uz engines are 60 kilos lighter than the 1jz, i might appoint you as my research technician see what you can find

Terry an LD28 (with turbo perhaps) would have been a good fit and an economical cruiser.

Anyway I'm following this Thread with interest and no more adverse comment. Your engineering solutions are always entertaining.
