So £32k. About what I would have expected.

Sold for £25k - £32k would make £7k fees ???

Cars
Entry: £125 (+vat). Payable on agreed entry.
Commission: 6% (+vat). Minimum fee of £120 (+vat) applies

Special Notice
As soon as it has been agreed that your car will entered into one of our sales, you will need to complete an entry form. This forms the contract between Anglia Car Auctions and you as the Vendor. Withdrawal of the entry prior to the sale is subject to fees. The fees are charged at 14% (+vat) of the reserve price which covers the buyer's premium at 8% and selling commission of 6% plus the entry fee of £125 (+vat). In the case of vehicles offered with no reserve, fees will be calculated based on the auctioneer's expected achievable result.

It says:

Buyer's premium
8 %
VAT on hammer
20 %

So 28%?

I was looking at it from the buyer's perspective.

Wouldn’t the VAT be on the commissions/fees only rather than the hammer price?

So the buyers pays £27400, the seller gets £23050 and the auction house gets £4350?

It says VAT on hammer, on the page:

I think the VAT is just on the commission this would make sense as the rest of the money goes back to the seller. So £25000 selling price 8% comms charged = £2000 + vat £400 total = £2400 total price paid £27400 Good price when you think a total RHD went on ebay not long ago needing total restoration for over £20k !

Classic Auction Fees:

Entry: £125 (+vat). Includes valet.

Buying: 8% (+vat). Minimum fee of £160 (+vat) applies.

Selling commission: 6% (+vat). Minimum fee of £120 (+vat) applies.

So the seller also paid 6% + vat fees =£1800 netting him or her £23200 ! would have been better off with a private sale ! win win for the auction house
