240z 1972 fuel pump issue convert to electric

I have replaced my factory original mechanical fuel pump twice now with an aftermarket one from ebay. On both occasions the pump works fine for a very short while. About 5 or so trips then it fails. I believe the the diaphragm in the pump gets weak as it must be an inferior product.

I disconnected the the fuel line from the pump from both sides, put one side on the fuel can and the other on a bottle. Crank the engine and no fuel coming out.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I am going to install an electric fuel pump. Could anyone tell me which electric pump would work and where I can buy one please.

Thanks

This is what I put on my 240 a couple of months ago. The pressure is a little higher than ideal (want 2-5 psi) but it seems OK.

Ditto I’ve used one of them
seem to work fine without fitting a regulator

Before you replace your pump, just check that your return line or tank breather aren't blocked. If any are, you will create a vacuum and an air lock stopping the fuel coming through. That could be why your mech pumps are failing. The potential culprit is the fuel rail in the engine bay as it is a very narrow pipe and sometimes gets crud stuck in the return.
