12v socket

on the 240s/260s has anyone replaced the cigarette lighter with a 12 volt socket? seen a couple on ebay & wondered if it's a straightforward swap. the cigarette lighter body seems to be bonded in and i don't wanna damage the dash trying to remove it.

Can't you just stick the male plug of your 12 volt device into the existing cigarette lighter socket?

It's what I do when I run my wideband lambda kit on the car and it seems to work fine

I've just fitted one.I decided to leave the original in place and fit a 12v in the glove box for my tomtom, phone charger etc.

I'm rubbish with this sort of thing, but even I found it easy!

yeah did try plugging in the sat nav but no power so it must be knackered. so how did you connect it in the glove box zedboy?, i'm hopeless at anything electrical.
