£2000 for a rusty 2+2?

I reckon the 2+2s are going to overtake the 2 seaters in value at some point; they're rare already and will only get rarer as the lack of replacement parts makes them harder to restore.

I really like the flip open quarter windows on the 2+2s, would have been a neat feature to have on the 2 seater!

I think you're sarcasm about 2+2 prices overtaking the 2 seat type didn't come across!

They're rarer for a reason:D

No sarcasm meant at all! When the 2+2 came out I'm sure some people traded in their 2 seaters for them. Things that go out of fashion almost always come back in at some point, and it does have a certain appeal - the character of an early Z but with the practicality of an extra 2 seats.

I understand your point, however its not got the looks of the 2 seater, for that reason it'll never be as desirable.

I dunno, I quite like them :)

The way I see it, if you like sporty old Nissans and you want something with back seats you're pretty much limited to a 260z 2+2 or a 240k, and good luck finding one of those for a reasonable price. Hakosukas are a whole lot more expensive and the models lower in the range don't really do it for me.

Ideally we'd all have a 2 seater and a 2+2! (and a long enough garage to fit one in)

Almost forgot about the C130 Laurel but those are also impossible to find...

Sorry to butt in but i have a 2+2 280zx great car but also the undesirable one  and rare in good condition as parts no longer available to restore plenty for sale but are wrecks good luck to any one buying one to restore . I also have a 260z 2 seater just about to under go full restoration the parts for the 2 seater 260z are mostly still available, unlike the 2+2.There is a chance the 2+2s of both models will increase dramatically who knows but if you doing it for monetary returns i wouldn't bother you should be doing it because you like the model you can afford and they will always cost more than you anticipate Oh i do have a garage to house to z 2+2 and 2 seater :)

...

And I am glad that S30 tinted glass wearers ignore the lower models:devil:

I decided to buy a 2+2 simply because I have a family and I enjoy a family trip now and again.

I would agree that the 2 seater is prettier and will always be more desirable in most markets.

I am going on a road trip to Austria with the family this Summer something I could not do in a 2 seater, or indeed I could not take the family anywhere in it.

The 2+2 is a very nice car in its own right it handles well with the longer wheelbase making for a more relaxed ride.

So for many like myself a 2+2 is the only solution if I am to enjoy an S30; alternatively I could win the lottery and buy both!:D

I am advised by those who have driven both that the 2+2 handles better than the 2str..so next time you are at a track day in your S30 , be careful as you may get overtaken round the bends by the family lux barge 2+2

Agreed:eek:...also rarer and more odd ball unique quirky designs on these models. The S30 on the other hand is no doubt faster and designed for mass USA export sales:smash::rolleyes:

Not sure why you're trying to put words in my mouth. The 260 2+2 was one of Nissan's premium models, as was the Skyline and Laurel - they were marketed as such and are more comparable to each other than the lower end models. Sorry if that upsets you

Not at all. Actually the opposite:p, I am glad that the slower models will remain outside fat walleted S30 owners want list:thumbs:

If I had a fat wallet then my S30 would be finished already, I don't see anything wrong with wanting to own something beyond my means ;) In fact I imagine I'm probably one of the poorest people on here, I'm not ashamed to admit it!

Hi Everyone. Not wishing to be classed as a smarmy kind of gett I have just had my 2+2 valued for insurance.I did not tell the gentleman who valued it that it was for insurance purposes and His comment was quote " if I was selling that car I would put it in my showroom at £19.500. and I will get it" unquote., my jaw dropped to the floor with shock and awe.I then said are you sure it is worth that much as I myself was thinking the insurance company would probably be reluctant to accept such a high value for a 260Z 2+2.Eventually we both agreed on a valuation of £17.750 To replace my car.I was impressed with his knowledge and then he informed me that he was the Proprietor of D M Classic Cars and He dealt mostly in porsches , Rolers,Feraris.and top end classics and had been doing that for 38 years. His website is www.dmclassiccars.comMy insurance company has agreed to insure my car for that amount. Please understand I do not wish to diminish the Z clubs valuer in any way shape or form,I personally would sooner have a hands on value than a photo value although I am sure the Z club valuer could perform this more than likely himself. Please do not take any offence, anyone Thank and kind regards.

260z 2+"

Hi Ali K Yes it is totally original and unrestored apart from tyres and radiator recored.I had to replace the head and gasket some time ago.But the Guy who valued it said it was more or less maintenance of course it has been undersealed and waxoiled a number of times whilst in my possession and garaged most of the time.If you need any more info I will be glad to answer any questions Tony B

260z2+2.

Hi again .I will get it out of the garage and see if I can get some decent pics and then download them I am not used to doing this but will try my best. Also the car has not been washed or cleaned over the winter time, been off road since september but had it out for a few runs on good days just to keep everything in working order.I think Ali asked if it had won any concourse,it has but that was a long time ago.I think maybe four or five in its history but I have not entered it in concourse for a few years now. There is an article in one of the Z clubs magazine on it sometime in the past saying how I got it. It must be archived somewhere, I will see if I can find the magazine in my collection. I will try to put pics on soon.Regards. Tony.
