I need a set of the spring clips for the rear panel. I found them in the US for $20 but they want $58 to ship them. They would fit in a small letter envelope in reality and should cost a few $$ postage. Does anyone sell these here or in Europe ?
Picked these up already polished and very pleased with the fit. They are 6" with 0.105 "out" offset (2.66mm) with 185 70 R14 tyres
Now that front needs to go down a little...
Set of 4x original steel wheels from my US 72 as I have just swapped to Wolfraces. £50 for the four. Excellent condition around the internal band, outside is surface rust, but have had a Californian life.
I'd rather not ship them, but can at buyers expense. Located Manchester, UK
Installing my rear black trim panels around the rear lights. The lower spring clips are good, but don't hold the panel well when it's being pushed by the rubber lip seal around the lights.
Any tips on making them hold onto the trim panel with more strength ?
thanks
Ahh thanks, Zeds are new to me so this is the first I've worked on and even driven. I didn't know it was a thing and there was a cable conversion. I'll take a look for it.
I had another tweak today. I did find that one of the pivots (upright shaft) in the linkage was a bit tight, so I cleaned and greased it. Didn't make any notable difference. Next I weakened the return springs on the carb levers as an expermient - put a small extension wire in so there were still...
So I've just been going through everything. Car is LHD so the linkage is a bit different than the photo above. Where the linkage comes through the bulkhead it then attaches to a lever to translate the motion 90 degrees. The lever bracket flexes a bit when blipping the pedal indicating it's...
Thanks, yeah it's good to hear similar stories of throttle sensitivity so I'll have a look at that. I have been restoring for 30 odd years and I have a few different and low and high mile cars. The 240 looks to be very very original with the right amoung of cosmetic wear to indicate a low mile...
Thanks for the tips, the linkage is very original (still clean and zinc plated etc) but there is some slack before movement is taken up. I was assuming that is the way it should be to compensate for engine movment a little and I'll need to check on the return springs, but I do think they are all...
Thanks, I think this is a pretty low miles car and the engine bay and engine is very clean with mostly original parts - this leads me to think that there is very little wear. My feeling is that it is in the linkage and do I'll start looking there too and yes it does feel like the pedal is too...
Hi all,
My new to me '72 US 240z is now registered as of last week and so I've been able to put some miles on it.
I cleaned the carbs (2x Hit SU) and set them all up weeks ago and it idles well and pulls well. Timing is correct so I'm satisfied all is good.
But when driving and foot off the...
Thanks, yes I removed the nozzles and found a green coating on the, which I could tell was causing the sticking. A bit of googling showed that others had removed this coating. So I rubbed it off with some fine scotch pad and then polished them a little. Nice and smooth now up and down
My new two me 240z, very original car, runs nice but is (was) a poor starter when cold.
I watched a few videos on the SUs and went to investigate.
Basically even though I was pulling on the choke level and it appeared to be moving the external mechanism on the carb it turned out the variable...
So the 240 arrived today. Melanie and Joop gave end to end a great experience. Frequent communications over email, lots of updates, and always answered the questions I had. They worked with (and already knew) Kingstown Shipping in Hull that I use so the import from Holland to Hull was...
Thanks, yes it very solid, though the drivers side has seen some action, not sure why but the other door and sill area have been rubbed down to metal. Anyway, easy fix. Matching numbers car, red interior :)
