Perils of a 43 year old car

Thanks for the info.I like the idea of copper fuel lines and will investigate that. I'll call ready rads and see what they can offer. All hoses will be replaced together with the rubber grommets. I've attached a photo of the front firewalls replacement blanking grommets...obviously a specialist...

Perils of a 43 year old car

I checked the brakes before I did anything. Front hoses are brand new, rear hoses are stainless. New brake/clutch master cylinder at the front and fliud is uncloudy. The MOT station remarked how good the brakes were so confident all is well in that area. Yep fuel sender was solid. Joined the...

Perils of a 43 year old car

Interesting day yesterday which I thought I would share. My 240z is pretty original aside from an L28 engine swap by the previous owner. The big issue here is the fact that it has been in storage for many years before I aquired it and my lack of understanding to the ravages of time. My car has...

You were correct on the Temperature gauge.....result!! Earthed it out and gauge responded and travelled to right hand side / hot New sensor to be ordered. Let you know how the petrol sender works out.

Chaps, what can I say but thanks. I've already added a substitute to the petrol, mainly concerned with ethanol though and its effects on components. I drove the car again for a few miles and am surprised at how hot the rocker cover gets. As a matter of course I have replaced the water thermostat...

Thanks for the advice. I've stripped the water sender units out of the engine and both (if thats what they are in the attached picture) are shiwing no live at all. Even tried immersing one in boiling water but no effect. The tank I was hoping to leave in situ and hopefully try any other method...

Well, it's finally happened....new V5 arrived and new plates fitted to my 240Z so another one on the roads again. First legal drive and not I was not disappointed. Very very pleased with the car but as you would expect some minor issues require attention. The two most pressing ones are two...

    First Drive / Vehicle registration

Thanks for that. I had assumed it all came back!! Although I'm lead to believe it has only had one previous owner I would like to verify the history. I will find some time to contact the previous owner over the next few weeks

    First Drive / Vehicle registration

Fantastic, thanks for the reply. V55/5 now ordered!! I've prepared myself for a few weeks so it's not the end of the world + I still have a load of jobs to do on the car. Electronic ignition is one and also a replacement of all the weatherproofing seals which have suffered over the years. I've...

Very interesting....very supprised how orange the indicator is glowing. I was committed to purchasing some new lenses but having seen the video you have posted I'm having second thoughts. Definitely worth exploring further considering the cost of the units from somewhere like JDM. With purchase...

    euro light lenses

I worked on the front lights and indicators today. I've replaced the main sealed beam headlights with ones that have H4 bulbs + sidelights. I cut the green/blue feeds to the orange indicator lights, which we all know act as side lights on the American spec, and joined them to the new sidelights...
