    I'm going 1JZ

Finally got rid of this horrible, bent gross steering wheel. And fitted a nice Nardi wheel. Have a Chinese Nardi horn button and better bolts to fit before Japfest.

    I'm going 1JZ

And it’s done again! Looks epic, need to get used to the power again so I can drive it without shanking when I get out! Hopefully see a few of you at Japfest?

can I fit an extra silencer?

Bit with the ease of having the engine it was originally designed to fit!

can I fit an extra silencer?

I have the full system from the downpipe. Headers wouldn’t work with the 1JZ. I can tell you that it sounds incredible. I wanted it to be as quiet as possible. I’m not a fan of raspy exhausts. Bear in mind I have 2 turbos in the way of the exhaust gasses which naturally brings the volume down.

can I fit an extra silencer?

I have a Z Story exhaust on my 1JZ swapped 260z. Sounds incredible, not too loud and none of that raspiness you seem to have with yours. Exhaust is the wrong side in the 1JZ so we made a custom downpipe to fit.

    I'm going 1JZ

Starting to get there now. Turbos on, everything painted, cam covers back on. Will have oil in it again soon!! Japfest in a few weeks so need to get a move on. To be fair, the weather has really slowed progress as not been able to get the painting done.

    I'm going 1JZ

Huge downpipe won’t work, flanges aren’t flat so went back to the standard one. Saves needing to mess with the exhaust. Painted the boost pipes and cam covers. Just need to cure and can be clear coated. Tiny annoying problem with the right side repeater working intermittently. When I did...

    I'm going 1JZ

Long due an update. Enjoyed the car all summer, made a couple of cool things. Main one being a boost and AFR screen in one of the switch blanks so we can keep an eye on it. We don’t have clever management. Simply raising the boost and hoping it doesn’t melt. Around October time the...

    “Restomod” S30s - who’s got / built one?

Good luck setting a budget!! Unless you have built something like this before. No matter how much you think it will cost, it will cost more. I am near Horsham, West Sussex so not too far away from you. Check my threads out on what I have done with mine so far. Its slightly out of date now but...

Japfest Classic Goodwood Circuit 6th October 2024 - official thread

Booked, I only live about 20 mins away so a local one for once! If anyone is coming a long way and has car trouble, my workshop is also 20 mins away.

What did you do to your Z this week?

Exactly that. They were already hybrid turbos so wasnt the exhaust turbine exploding. Turned out to be the bearings, eventually enough play in them for the turbines to touch the housings which then destroyed them. Have a newer set of hybrids to go on over winter along with coilovers and a few...

    common rust areas

I have been really lucky with my Z. Only the metal parts were rusty.

What did you do to your Z this week?

Took it to a cars and coffee meet, a Renault Alpine thought it would be faster. It wasn’t, then all of a sudden it was…

    Le Mans Classic 2025

I would be happy with a prototype body and build my own from there!

I have a single takeaway from this - Who made the mini Z and how do I get a body????

    I'm going 1JZ

Not updated this for a while. New flywheel and clutch fettling was a success. Flywheel that was on there turned out to be a much thinner and lighter one when compared to the genuine Toyota one we put on. Vibration all gone and doesn’t slip. Much nicer to drive as well. We then hit 30 degree...

    I'm going 1JZ

I ended up buying a new flywheel, found a new genuine Toyota one and some ARP bolts. Before I buy another new clutch we are going to try to rescue the one we have. The clutch plate is fine. The pressure plate has a few hot spots but doesnt look wrecked. The issue is with the pressure plate...

    I'm going 1JZ

They do, can get for about £250 but realistically the clutch is knackered so I should suck it up and buy a new one. I just can’t help but think about the better things I could spend £650 or so on. Especially as the gearbox is on borrowed time!
