    “Very rot free”…

I don’t post much anymore but I was cracking up on this one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296297112838?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=LdS6dlmhTUG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=RMAbDqJYTT-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

What did you do to your Z this week?

I always had issues with extraction with clear in the old fashioned unheated booth at my dads place we use to have. So hopefully your fan system works better than that did. It never caused any problems with dry spots just had to wait awhile between coats for it to extract/settle.

What did you do to your Z this week?

Restored and Painted this last week for my little one too. Same as the one his grandad had back in 1955.

What did you do to your Z this week?

Are you building a show car or using it Rich? I’m happy enough with mine that I painted myself, and I’m really picky with paint. I am confident you’ll do fine and you’ll be able to stand back at the end of the day and say you did it. You’re welcome to loan my Sata guns if needed. Honestly...

What did you do to your Z this week?

I was looking at getting one of these. Out of interest, how low is it to the ground when fully down? Thanks!

    Respray

If you get a quote for the above I’d question it. The time required to get that straight as an arrow is well north of 150 hours. Labour costs min £40, plus easily £600 of materials and overheads. Nothings cheap anymore. (Not that 4/6k is cheap…)

What did you do to your Z this week?

Well being on paternity for a little bit I had a few jobs to do round the house but finally got on to sorting my garage out a bit (after seeing people sorting there’s in here it spurred me on too..!). Bought some more racking and had a sort… it’s a working garage, no fancy floor or plastered...

    Matching Numbers?

Americans do tend to take it further than just the engine. Matching numbers can often also mean correct date coded parts like carbs, heads, the correct seat belt years, glass, diff and obviously correct coded/dated ‘trans’ and plenty of other stuff. If they enter concours shows they often get...

    The Project Dixie thread!

I wouldn’t fit too much until the vehicle is fully painted. Trust me when I say even if you’ve masked everything up, over spray (especially clear coat) still tends to find its way over everything….

    The Project Dixie thread!

Sounds good Richie - I was going to suggest consulting with the supplier. Yes I'd agree with blowing over a light base coat first, not only will it help with adhering but if you scotch anything it will always be a slightly different colour after, certainly cant clear over patches if you rub...

    The Project Dixie thread!

It’s just the process I was taught, every professional painter I’ve met has always keyed and cleared over a base if it’s had time to cure. From what I know too, the base coat can absorb moisture, which in your cold garage may be an issue if you clear over it too late and you don’t want to be...

    The Project Dixie thread!

Shame you didn't get the opportunity to clear it shortly after base - it really helps to chemically bind it but a key and clear will be fine! Looks good so far Rich. I really don't miss doing the bodywork on mine! Such a long job! And I still haven't flatted and mopped it yet, hope I don't mess...

    Datsun 240z seats for refurbishment

If he has sold these - I also have another set in somewhat better condition but still need restoring. They do have the rare plastics fitted too.

    Preload rear wheel bearings

Hub and stub. If swapping stubs out you will have to remeasure.

    Preload rear wheel bearings

You can get different spacers. You need to measure for the correct one. Though I have had experience of the seals binding too. If you’re turning without a wheel on they will feel stiff.
