Inner Fender Panels

What is the best thing to do with the inner fender panels? I can't see any metal ones available.

I've seen these, not sure if that would be any good, but it can also take up to 3 months before I receive them.

I would say screw or rivet them on just apply a sealer around the holes apparently a lot of American cars had these panels fitted in plastic from new good idea considering where they are and what they do 🤓

I need a set of these as well as the ones that came with the car have become brittle and snapped through age, I'm unlikely to re-fit them. That set seems expensive but then again it's a case of find it cheaper elsewhere and you probably won't. Interested to know what route you'll go as I'll probably do the same.

Ian, I would have thought that 'your man' could fabricate something to do the job.

Or is it something Andy makes?

Not too worried about the fitment, more just sourcing some, I can't really wait over 3 months as I hope for the car to be ready for paint by then.

Just about saving money, cheaper to buy than to pay for days worth of fabrication time.

I could make some fibreglass ones if I had a good original to make a mold from.

I am sure I have seen a slightly cheaper set elsewhere that came in white and with less lead time but I can't find them now.

I am sure I have a good one, I know the one side is shot but I am sure one of the sides is good, if you can make a mould and invert it to get the other side?

If you have a good one I'd be interested, not sure if I could make it fit the other side by inverting it, but I could try.

Is it from a 280Z or UK 260Z as they are different slightly to the 240Z.

I believe it's from a 260, probably best I find it and get some pictures over from memory it looks like the picture in your original post.

Odd i just noticed this thread today as I've made some enquires about having some made for my cars. I personally need 4 sets and think I only have 1 new set. I do have the moulds to make them.
For 240 or 260/280?

I don't remember seeing any at the shop but going there today and will look for some.
I'll see what I have I know there are a couple of metal ones and a plastic one somewhere, but would need to check and see condition etc.
Regards, Mark
Definitely interest if you have anything useful.

Have found these 4, one plastic and 3 used metal ones but they all seem to be the same side, they appear pretty solid although some have a few battle scars from being removed etc

I am surprised that Andy doesn't produce these. I could ask a neighbour (manages a fabrication company) but I would need good patern parts.

My first 240Z had homebuilt complete inner arch guards. I never did find out the condition of the airtubes. From memory I think you could buy them from Germany - about 20 years ago though.

Spoken to Andy today he doesn’t currently make inner wing splash guards but is planning to make them out of fibreglass but not for a couple of months also he thinks there are 2 different sizes to fit 240/260/280

I have some coming from America, used, but had been carefully removed and in great condition. Hopefully they are right for my car.
