I have been contacted by the wife of a former Z Club member. Sadly her husband has died and the time has come to sell his car.

I was able to see the car on a recent trip to South Wales and take a few photos.

The car is a runner and could be a good way to get 'into' Zs.

As a guide the family are looking to get £20k.

For basic details please PM me (start a conversation) and I'll try to help.

Hello guys, does anyone know if this car is still available please. I'm looking into getting into Z ownership, therefore this may be a good starting point. Thanks Jon

Sorry, I saw your PM and meant to reply but didn't!

As far as I know it is still for sale.

I'll get back to you in a PM.

Hi Rob i went to view this car there is extensive rust all round. the fire wall has had repair patches over the rusted firewall so all the rot is sandwiched in between. Rust has been painted over on the frame rails, tailgate rusted out and other panels too .Interior and electrics need sorting. Diff and gearbox leaking etc oh and once had a sunroof but been patched over there is a rust hole in the roof, needs a lot of work.
The owner told me they were going to put it in an auction now. Pictures look a lot better than it is.

Sounds to me like a 6k car with all the work that needs to be done if it goes to auction someone will probably pay more for it if they don’t know what’s involved these car are not cheap to get to a great standard 😬

I'd say at least 10k, I sold one recently that looked way worse than this for 8k

The value people put on things doesn't always make sense.

My point is why can 70s Datsuns sell for £40k? You can buy a lovely new Civic Type R for that, brand new with a warranty. Art is another strange area for value.

This Datsun isn't 'worth' £20k just like most classic cars aren't worth what they sell for. How much is your average house actually 'worth' surely not £350k when it would cost far less to build?

I suppose you base this car on:

How much you want one in a limited market.
How much an original RHD car is important to you.
What skills and facilities you have to keep costs down.
What it would be worth when restored.
etc etc

I wouldn't buy it because I've been there, got the t shirt and know the task ahead. However my first car was probably in similar condition but I got into Z ownership and learnt the hard way. I enjoyed it.

I'm not expressing any opinion on this car's value, it will find a buyer at sometime who can negotiate and a seller who is realistic.
