Glad to see you are back at it. I had a garage built and painted out nicely but now my wife wants to put all her crap in it... there is no winning sometimes

T3 is an option for the diff cover, I'm upgrading to finned cover and I'll be using their billet drop mounts, dog bone and anti roll bar mounts.

I'm following this carefully Liam! I bought Wally's car last year and will be getting to work on it soon.

Great to see things are progressing with the new shell!

I know the feeling mate. She's already tried to get me to turn half into a gym for her! No chance 🤣🤣🤣

Did wonder who had that. I was shocked when he told me. Where are you located in the country?

A little update...

Blasting was.. well.. erm... eventful lol. Got the call that the shell was ready to collect, so off we went back upto Wetherby to fetch it and loaded it onto the trailer..
IMG_20220325_172950_675.jpg

Whilst I was in that neck of the woods, I popped into Z-Farm to meet Duncan and Andy (Auto Panel Solutions) great guys. They took a look over the blasted shell and Andy gave his expert opinion on it and said "yeah.... it's not bad! Ooooo factory RHD too! Nice!" haha! He gave me a list of what needed to be replaced, I picked up some panels that he had pre-made and we set off home.

When we got home, we had a closer look at it and John the blaster was right.... someone HAD put some hours into it. Not saying they were good hours, but they certainly had been busy making this patchwork quilt lol. Here are the images of the "repairs" that had been carried out. I mean, it had all been done in the 80's and 90's so can't complain too much.

Cant find the images of the back end on my phone but its not TOO bad, just needs rear arches welding in properly instead if being stitch welded and filled, and requires a new rear lower section as the one fitted is "homemade" and is horrendously wonky!

It was an absolute PITA as someone had "stitch" welded every single seam on this car. Great for strength, but not great to try and get panels off just by removing spot welds lol... the grinder was needed for everything.

The boot lid lower shelf requires replacement as there are small holes in so we decided to take that off and uncovered some horrible metal underneath.

New rear fillet panels from Andy test fitted, ready to be welded in.

And at that it came to a standstill as we needed a finger sander to get into the nooks and crannies so moved onto the bigger panels to see how bad they were.

Tried to find a decent paint stripper and read good things about this stuff...

Bonnet was first.... Think it needed 2 coats of it total, but to say it got through a decent amount of paint and primer, its awesome stuff.

All in all, decent product and the bonnet was in good shape, very front edge needs looking at but nothing major

Next was the doors, again 2 coats required.

This revealed some random repair on the drivers door. Thinking where the mirror mounted possibly?

All bare metal parts were then coated in Jenolite to keep the surface rust to a minimum...

I think thats it for car updates, she's waiting to go to see Andy at APS so he can sort the front end. I'd love to give it a go, but with the amount of bodge jobs that have been done, she needs to go onto a jig to be done properly by someone who knows what they are doing lol.

I started to do a bit on the home garage, luckily I have a friendly neighbour who's into cars too and he allowed me to put my stuff into his garage for a few weeks whilst I sorted mine. Was a good days worth of moving everything across. I wished I'd done this all first before bringing my stuff down lol.

This is what I used.... went for the medium grit anti slip stuff. Not exactly cheap but supposed to be chemical resistant too, so only time will tell. Be warned, if you are going to do it... you need to be QUICK with it. Starts going off in around 20 mins or so.

Next I put some rubber skirting in to neaten it up and give it the finished look.

Had to install some brushes to the bottom of the garage doors to keep the crap out. Seems to be a mass of dandelion seeds knocking around my area. Pain in the ass to keep them out.

Purchased some shelving from Halfrauds as part of their Black Friday deals so finally got that put up and into place.
Also bought a small blasting cabinet for doing the little bits and pieces.

Then came the day I'd been dreading, moving EVERYTHING back into the garage, unpacking it and sorting out what is what...

New ECU arrived for the RB whilst I was moving stuff in...

IMG_20220527_171927_671.jpg

And I think that's all for now. Hopefully she goes off to Andy within the next few months. Maybe start the engine stuff next whilst waiting for the shell. I still want to stick new lighting and more sockets into the garage. A single double socket is nowhere near enough lol.

It’ll look spot on I’m sure after Andy has worked his magic
Yeah I think it will mate. Whilst I was at Z-Farm I saw a 240z there on a roll over jig which had had a full front end replacement. It was like factory. So clean and smooth. He said straight away.... this is what your shell could do with, looking at it.
