Gearbox refresh

Hi all,
Looking for some guidance. My car is a US import 1973 with a 5 speed box.
Having only recently got it roadworthy, myself and @jonbills went for a spin and believe the synchros could do with attention. 2nd gear is particularly troublesome. The gearbox oil has been changed.
I have seen this kit https://zcardepot.com/products/tran...nchros-240z-280z-280zx?variant=19278645428337 and wonder if anyone has any advice before I dive in and get it. I would be taking the car to a proper gearbox specialist to do the work.
Presume I would need 5 of these babies as well "Transmission Detent Ball Spring OEM 240z"
Anything else?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Tony

Tony,

is yours a European or American car? Beware that the US cars used the brass synchros you lined abs the European ones had steel synchros - and as far as I understand, they are not interchangeable! :(

There was someone in Auz that used to make the steel ones but I think they have closed down.

Thanks AliK
It is an american market car. I believe 73 US models were 4 speed so it has been changed at some point to a 5 speed before coming across the pond.

In that case I wouldn’t go buying brass synchros. Are you able to wait until the winter to take it apart and see how bad it really is? Then you can make a more informed decision on what to buy and alternatives like an s12/13/14 gearbox.

Yeah, cheers. No great rush.
I'd assumed that all US market cars, 4 or 5 speed would be brass synchros.
