Wow, few bikes there!

One of my lads has a Nukeproof - he does a bit of downhill racing. My other lad is a road racer (Cat2) and velo rider.

I have a Hoy (not good components), a Cannondale (better) and the most interesting an 80s Columbia which would be a good l'erocia. I let my 'road' lad ride the Columbia to try it. He was impressed but said it was 'sketchy' especially when changing gear.

Just like cars you can get carried away and own too many.

And I sold off three bikes when we moved house a few months ago. Bikes are my first love, cars a close second.

Should we need to start a separate bike thread! Or does one already exist...

Talented sons, cat2, get him to break the wind!
I have three lads, who all ride. Middle son most naturally talented, he also raced DH but had a big off a few years ago and gave him a long lasting confidence knock. Shame. Then he bought an Alfa...

What cannondale do you have? I really like their gravel bike range, it’s a bike type I don’t currently have but clearly need...

Columbia is very cool, and I can confirm the 1959 on my cinelli is skittish to say the least. Feels inherently unstable.

Until 4 months ago I lived in the edge of the cairngorm national park so driving, mountain biking or road cycling was nirvana, now a few miles outside of Aberdeen in suburbiaville riding the road bike feels far more scary than sessioning the Scottish downhill track. Although for a few months of C19 it was wonderfully quiet

Sorry for the slow reply.

My 'downhill lad' is off to Morzine and Meribel this weekend. Just helped him fit grey foam inserts into his tubeless tyres. Tight ft.

Under the green cover are his trackday tyres for his Clio Cup. Good life he's got here!20200724_145303.jpg 20200724_145322.jpg 20200724_145408.jpg

My Cannondale is just an Optimo - I paid £650 for it from a guy who hadn't used it. I bought my Hoy (behind it) from someone in Holmfirth who bought it when the Tour de France went passed his house - again never used (not even fitted pedals). There are bargains to be had.

Look at that tiny front sprocket ... ! My decade old Boardman is showing its age now (and weight). I got passed along a dead straight Fens road the other week by someone (granted he was 9st dripping wet and half my age or more) but it was as if I was standing still. (And his wasn't electric).

Nice. That Specialized must be heavy to need that 2 post lift! ;)

Aye, 26kgs. I had to carry it 1km over a boulderfied up Macdui wasn’t fun! However i rode a lot more of the climb thar you could do on an acoustic bike. Worth the trade off.

Love the reasons for buying! I love a bargain too [emoji106]
My road bike was a swap for an old tool chest! Mountain bikes i 100% have impulsive buying issues.

26kg?! For a road bike?
Surely you mean 26lb? (even that's heavy).

KGs, the black specialised is an ebike. Has a motor and battery to lug about as well! Can whack in 3000ft if climbing in an hour with motor on full chat it’s bananas.
