Insurance

I have ALLWAYS got the US title back from the DVLA. Not sure why but they send the docs back to me a few days after getting the v5c and I have registered over 10 cars in the last 3 years. Also I've not sent insurance docs for the last 5 or so since they changed the requirements. On the v55 form it clearly say that insurance is only required for NI.

I got everything back bar the original us title

On this one you are mistaken John, check your files and you won't find them, my tenner v yours ;)
It is DVLA policy to retain the original overseas registration document.

You are correct on the insurance though :D

My experience with Adrian flux was good at the point of sale but not great thereafter!

Been staying with https://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/ do many years now and their customer service has been exceptional. £110 / year for my Z insured for £30k and 3k miles a year. With a 2 year Agreed Value being an additional £15.

I've been with Classicline since the beginning of my Z ownership. Never had any cause to switch. I'm paying a couple of hundred quid though compared to Ali, but that's at a 45k agreed value and I'm in an SK postcode (some specialist insurers won't even insure in SK areas - unbelievable!).

Thanks for all the input. A few insurance companies to choose from which is good. I’ll take a copy of the original title before sending it off then. I can vaguely remember reading a bit saying if you want the documents back then you have to send a envelope with recorded delivery pre paid and they’ll post it back??

Hi Matt,

FWIW, my car was not insured when I registered, and this was never raised as an issue.

DVLA seem to be full of conflicting information.

Good luck with registration!

Another vote for classic line, they're fantastic and very reasonable.

Also recommend that you steer clear of Adrian Flux, same experience as Ali.
