Have had to move the car out of the garage due to this house being sold where it was, first time the car has seen the light for many years. Few more little jobs on it to do before I sent it away to be painted, colour I have chosen is Java green - BMW colour. Finally managed to complete the engine also, all internals have been uprated, mainly with supertech components and other top brands.

Good to see the progress.

The panels fit well especially considering the major change to the chassis/frame.

Hi all,

Its been a long time since I posted anything on here, but due to the fact of loosing the garage and the help of my friend with his equipment I had to put the car on hold. I have been waiting for over 6 months for a partially guy I have wanted to finish off the car for me. Once I got the car sat on the wheels there was some obvious geometry faults with the set up, to rectify this problem the rear turrets have had to be all cut out and re-designed. In doing so found some hidden rust which I didn't even know was there !

Im glad I have waited for this guy as his skill levels are way above mine.

Looking good. Do you have an idea when you hope to get it on the road?

Wow. Not seen this thread until your update today. So much work and dedication, especially with the set-backs you've had. Keep up all the great work and looking forward to following your progress!

Small update, I have no time scale when the car is going to be finished, but just trying to proceed as quick as possible, with also other projects I haven't finished by listing the help of others.

Hopefully some of these photos might give other people inspiration of what can be done. It wasn't until the front suspension was fitted to the car that I realised the chassis rails that I have fitted have interfered with the suspension, so it has been cut and modified to give suspension movement. It has turned out better than before.

Another long interval between doing jobs on the car, but finally removed it from storage and have had it the last couple months at my house after building another garage.

Managed to get a slot from the guy who worked on it last year, with now having the rear arches tubed, and a spoiler kit fitted to the front. But it became clear when test fitting the kit on the front that the fit was very poor. The problem was who ever constructed the front frame had the heights on the front tubes wrong.

So from fitting a body kit, has ended up reconstructing the front space frame, also taking measurements of the wheel base from a Datsun 240Z we have concluded that the wheel base is also 30mm shorter than what it should be.

Next week the wheel base will be rectified so now it will be like a original Datsun 240Z.

This is a really interesting project. Love it.

What are your plans for the finished car?

Just noticed that intercooler from your prev post pic. I used the same (sure looks like it) which will peg the engine to not much more than 600hp.
Was told to get mine modded/gated so it isn't cross flow or dumped if you plan on more, Just a heads up
.. cut the o/s end tank off and spin it 180 would help, plus make it easier to plumb up to an RB

It’s been a long time again since an update, but I have been busy over the last couple years. As I did not have the Datsun at my home address it was stored in a container. I decided I had to build another garage. Picture of garage is added below. So I spent many months building this garage, and decided to place both of my Datsuns into the garage. My original Datsun I bought in 2012, and started work on it just after finishing the front end of the car, I just left it, I have bought an exhaust system a complete rear end and many other upgrades for the car, but never got around to finishing it. So I made it my priority before I finished my other Datsun to get my original one sorted. That’s kept me busy for about a year. I shall now move onto my next year in a new post.

Lovely frame. that silvered up quickly?
I purchased the basic frame and it was green oak at the time, I just left it on the garage base for 12 months before trying to put it together. Big mistake though as I did not realise green oak, when it starts to dry out, twists and shrinks, and I soon found this out when I tried to fit the joints together. So top tip - put it together as quick as possible or you will never get the pins in.
