Jacked up the back of the ZX to do a little job today and could smell petrol quite strongly. Found this!

All the high pressure hoses around the pump have started to split. This was brand new hose on the car three years ago. Interesting however, all the low pressure returns were fine.

Damn glad I found it now before it went to bed for winter.

Thanks Rob saw that. Bought some Codan SAE J30 R9 high pressure hose form Demon Tweeks. Hose has a fluoro-elastomer inner lining so that should last a bit longer.

Seems to be the worlds biggest secret that ethanol in fuel degrades normal fuel hose in no time.
This is what’s causing all the latest spate of fires in classics.

why the f$€k it’s not highlighted and made public I’ll never know.

Mine usually last a year or so and then starts to split. Never actually leak but show signs of degrading. I've dumped all the SAE J30 R9 hose I had and moved over to the bio fuel hose. What I find odd is the OEM rubber hoses from the early '90's are still soft and flexible and have no signs of degrading. It's just the newer stuff.
