Woody and a few others have fitted them recently I think ... or you should maybe message Sean directly for any help. I would have though any decent hardware would do, not sure it has to be anything special.

Hi Chris

I can’t speak for others but I used some M8 flanged copper nuts and I also ditched the gasket that was supplied and used a Fel-Pro gasket. Worked for me.

Huw - is there an advantage in fitting copper nuts against, say, steel ones but with copper washers ?

The point of the copper coated nuts is stop them corroding on to the stud, without resorting to copaslip or similar during assembly, as i understand it anyway ;)

So how infrequently do people think that they're going to be removing the manifolds 'cos it'll take a long time to corrode when the studs, nuts and washers are stainless steel....

when the studs, nuts and washers are stainless steel....

Well, i guess that would be the preferred scenario, but how many bother to faff about changing studs if they are ok to start with, you can always just use SS nuts on normal studs as opposed to the copper jobbies, comes down to personal preference i suppose.
Also I've noticed in a lot of pictures showing copper nuts, they don't seem to use washers, no idea if that's relevant or not!

Nice nuts Sean. Just see you in a fez.

Just find it easier to take apart in the future Sean. Old cars need that some times :)

Just personal preference Toopy, always use copper coated nuts on exhaust manifolds. Twas wat I was taught, so sticking with what I know.

From almost daily experience on pipework flanges stainless fasteners are the work of the devil. They gall and bind frequently and end up having to be cut out, and should always be installed with a dry lube spray. On larger equipment we have to use specialist grades to prevent this effect (nitronic 60).
Stainless nut on c.stl stud is a better option if u have to have stainless nuts.
If the stainless nut binds on ur stud ur then threading the stud out of the alu which isn’t the best option as that’s why studs were used in the 1st place.
I’d stick with flanged copper nuts they’re tried and tested, they’re usually slightly crushed to become a locknut.

hello all started to fit the new exhaust today removed fuel rail took off the heat sheild and removed the exhaust manifold all is going very well not problens with any nut . did see the large amount if blue gasket sealer but then the penny dropped not 1 manifold studs the last person to do any work on the car had use normal bolt but may have saved my ass .just need to buy the hardware and clean the block up . dont know how they got the gasket to fit right with bolt may be the way they do things in the US . think stainless studs with copper flanged nut is the way to go thanks for the post Chris
