What did you do to your Z this week?

So Monday rolling road did not go to plan had a miss fire on the power runs top end, he changed the plugs checked all the coil packs and it turned out to be a fuel supply issue.

Both the Bosch pumps aren’t working together so he having to change the set up around should have the car back before Saturday (if the new parts turn up)

Cleaned up, painted and reassembled the intake manifold. Pretty happy with the results though I will probably have to repaint at some point in the future.

I bought some exhaust wrap for my exhaust manifold, though I've not had time to apply just yet...

I’ve used r888’s in very wet conditions at Spa and they were very grippy when new. They tend to lose all that wet weather grip once they age a little. I learnt the hard way to always check the manufacturing date. More than a couple of years out of date and drive with care in the wet. Still great in the dry though, even for road use.

Been doing “needle work”! Modelling needles for carbs on the PC.

I found if you soak it in a bucket of water first it goes on really tight and you don't get all the dodgy fibres and dust coming off when fitting it .

Noted this...I also took a couple of safety precautions...

Overall it came out looking pretty good,if a little loose in places.

Been prepping and painting bits with the Ford USA Dark shadow Grey. Very happy with the colour and finish from the Paints4U custom cans:

Also been filling and priming the project’s headlight pods, getting rid of past chips and scrapes and ready for final paint when the time comes. One has a bit of grey primer on as I ran out of 2K epoxy!

Also added another Z to the growing collection. Bizarre model actually. Definitely not a 280Z despite the boxing and the wing badges (which I will sand off!) - more S31Z given its RHD. Airfix must’ve had some sort of arrangement with a Japanese brand for these:

Wow that was unexpected, the side of the track must have been dirty?

You need some lessons off your girls.

Why have you got vertical taped lines on your windscreen?

They are reflections of the dash brackets. Yes it was a surprise how quickly it went round, normally I would just steer into it and hold it. Maybe I am getting old now

The girls are really getting on well and Hannah was only just a second off my time on this course

Fell off the road!!!! :(

Was out data logging “cruise” AFR with brother in law at the weekend. On dual carriageway doing 40 in second and logged revs/MAP/AFR. Time for 50mph, just started to squeeze on throttle and the back went silly in the rain. Right lock, left lock, onto the gravel on the side of the road and a clonk from raised iron works. Road surface was wet and greasy and with only about 10% throttle / available acceleration it felt like I had hit black ice.

Only superficial damage under the car, a small wound on tyre tread that hit the metal work and tracking probably out now. Oh and I have no idea how the lip on the wing came out.

Went back in OK though ...

It could have been VERY bad if I hadn’t caught it when I did. Another two feet to the left and the z would have been upside down in a field.

Looks like my tyres suck for wet handling and I guess I very rarely drive in the wet so not been too much of an issue

On the upside, I’m in for a new set of wheels and tyres, the only question is 15” or 16” very torn on this one!! Love the classic look of 15s but want the tyre choice of 16s. Either way it will be 7j!
