I’ve just been told that the welding/body stage will be started in September, I was under the impression it was going to be sooner but it is what it is. As I’ll be unable to leave it alone for 3 months what things could I be getting on with? I’ve started taking bits off that are broken/not needed but didn’t want to go too far as I was thinking it’ll be being moved soon. I’ll be getting the car media blasted before anything else but is that a process best left to nearer the time the work will start or will it be ok to do sooner and leave it in primer?

I'd pick an area to work on and complete it. For example, you can probably do with replacing all the rubber weather strips, fuel lines, brakes, that sort of thing.. Choose something you'd like to get done and then smash it out. Exciting

I see what you’re saying and all of the weather strips definitely need replacing! but I don’t want to put them on just yet as I’d have to take them all back off for blasting/spraying. Could make a start on repairing the split dash. Will get it stripped down a bit more and post some more pics EXTRA:D

It’d be okay to leave in primer/epoxy as long as it’s inside and in the dry.

Great opportunity to do other stuff as suggested ... pick an area and get crackin’

I’m trying to stop myself from buying new bits that I won’t need for a long time! So getting on with other things should detract me from that

First time I’ve had chance to get to the car in a couple of weeks, so spent a couple of hours taking bits out and having a look to see how much rust is hiding. Inner wings and in and around the radiator doesn’t look too bad

Inner wings and tops of the chassis rails look good, battery tray area not so much! :)
Yeah battery tray isn’t great, it’s not rotted through though. I think I’ll be putting the new battery in the boot so get rid of the battery tray altogether :D

Stripped a bit of the back end today, not looking to bad either. Move on to getting the carpets up under seats next to see what’s lying beneath them!

Good luck with the project Matt.

As a new owner myself, I'm interested in seeing the progress and learning a few things from your restoration!

You’ll be learning them at the same time as me so I’ll try not to make too many mistakes!

Was browsing yesterday and remembered you were after a vented hood.

Kaminari do one: http://www.kaminari.com/catalog/31

I fancy their front air dam so have emailed to ask if they stock any at their Belgium dealer or if it would be an import job.

Maybe worth dropping them a line?

Thanks for that, I’ve managed to sort a hood swap with another member, but will keep their details if I need anything else

Removed the engine today, only thing holding it in were 2 bolts between the block and the gearbox! Can’t complain made taking it out a lot easier, no rust to be seen around the bulkhead besides the battery tray
